Went to Wayne Nat. Forest in Ohio to do some scouting and camping. Took a few pics of camp and terrain!
Cant wait to get back down there in January for a late season hunt.

Nice, thanks for sharing, bro. But where' your bow? No stump-shooting on those parts?
I was trying to find the bow too lol. Looks like y'all had a good time. How long does it take to set up a tent like that?
cool! It's tough to beat a wall tent and a stove for sheer comfort. They make a nice home away from home. Congrats on your doe, and good luck on your upcoming hunt. Thanks for sharing.
Bob
It's nice to see kids involved in the great outdoors :D Good luck this fall :archer2:
Just curious...I'm assuming you're car camping with that much gear and then just hiking way back in to potential hunting spots? Great camp setup but that is a TON of weight. Can't see moving that stuff more than a few feet from the truck or a trailer.
National forest lands in the Midwest can be great hunting once you get more than 1/2 mile off the roads.
Good job LB hunter. Thanks for sharing. Keep an eye out for old Indian campsites of past and maybe and arrowhead or two.

Didn't want to bring bows. When we stump shoot we get very little scouting done. Wanted to cover as many miles scouting as possible.

I have a 5x8 enclosed trailer that I use. It will let me take up to four guys hunting/camping with all gear and up to 8 deer with just my truck and the little trailer.
We use a jet sled to haul gear from trailer to camp usually only a hundred yards or less. Then we drive truck as close as we can on the road to hunting spot and then hike in. 6 of the great spots I found were close to a mile in and over big hills etc. 2 of the spots were 50 yards from a main road (never over look the over looked places)!
It sure is nice to come back to a nice comfortable camp. My days of spike camps, backpack tents and cutting toothbrush handles to save weight are over unless its special hunt. But for 99% of my hunting this is the camp set up I use. Even when I'm hunting alone (just take less crap).

It takes about an hour to set up and a hour and a half to break down. I can have the tent up by myself in about 20 mins. It's a great system just not light weight.
The tent fits in the blue bin used as a table, stove packs into its self. Cots break down nice and little. Sweet simple and better than a motel room!
We even take showers right in the tent next to the stove. Heat water in the stove water tank, pour into solar shower, hang solar shower from inside tent frame, pull jet sled into tent, stand in jet sled for shower, throw dirty clothes in jet sled with soapy water from shower to do laundry. Works like a champ!
Great set up. Thanks for sharing.
Looks like a good time
Looks like a great tip. Did yo find enough sign to get you excited for next year?
Good stuff...
LB hntr were the campsites away from the rv sites been looking at Wayne for our next trip and my friend has his wall tent we used before with stove and canvas shower enclosure so we are set to go just wondering about the site setup. looks nice. Thanks.

Wayne is huge and spread over 3 different areas. I have barely scratched the surface of it so far. So i dont know about their actual camp sites. we basically found places along the back roads and 2 tracks where others have camped and just set up there.
Its really hard to find a flat spot big enough for a wall tent there. some of the roads are un passable and you wont know it until you get 2 miles down it. Its big hill country, very rugged. so my best advise is plan to get there a day early so you can get things sorted out. There are some actual camp site locations through out wayne but i have not been to one. yet. I prefer to camp away from everyone hidden down some back road some where.
Yes thanks for the info. We also like to camp away from the masses. Probably a weekend trip this spring to check things out. Greats pics...own a dog like yours also.
Nice tent. I'm about to order a Montana canvas with floor. What would you change if anything about your tent setup?

I would not change anything about the tent. next time I will get the bigger stove. The stove I got is great but a bigger one will burn longer and on the single digit nights i might only have to get up 2 times rather than 4 with this stove.
Personally i would not get the floor if you are doing a stove and or using it for hunting. It is very nice not to have to take your boots off. just put a tarp down in the sleeping area for a half floor. works great, weighs less, easier, dont have to clean, and multi functional. 2 of the best features of a canvas tent are 1: it breathes and 2: no floor.
I couldn't see in the pics but does it have a sod cloth lip at least?
Yep has a 12 or 14 inch sod cloth all the way around. Just tuck it under the frame poles and good to go.
