Hey Everyone. In mid May will be coming home from Afghanistan after 18 months. I have managed a few R&R's and only hunted three times in all this time. I am pretty excited but not sure what to get myself into.
I will be home for the Baltimore Bowman's Traditional Classic in Maryland on the 15, 16, and 17 of May.
Beyond that i am open to suggestions.
Any thoughts on a bow hunt i can get into. Was thinking Spring Bear. Carp shooting, Rays on the Chesapeake.
Would love to hear what you all come up with.
Thanks in advance.
Don't have any ideas for you but welcome home, Jack.
Nothing like bear huntin

I'll second Hermon's suggestion. You deserve that one Jack!
Topic: Stickflingers bear hunt opening
First off, thank you for your service. Without you, and the others that serve in our armed forces, we wouldn't be free to enjoy all that we do in this country today. Thank you!
To answer your question, personally, it would be hard for me to pass up a bear hunt if I was in a position to be able to do it. That Stickflingers hunt sure looks like a good time.
Bob
Thanks for the ideas guys. Yep saw Ryan's opening and it's on my mind.
Bob. I am not a serviceman. But am a G-man that had spent 11 years overseas and a career protecting our country. Thanks much for the kind words.
Am looking forward to hearing more of what u all have in mind.
How about Montana spring bears. Anyone have any info ?
Welcome home "O' Bearded One", missed ya. How long are you gonna be stateside?
Exotics in Texas
Not home until May. I will be home for at
Least 8 weeks.
Izzy. Hope you and your family are well my friend.
Spring Bear. THANK YOU for your service. No matter what hunt you decide on enjoy, brother you deserve it!
Pre-Welcome home Jack! Hope whatever hunt you choose is a profitable one. If Not Bear then maybe Hog hunting from one of the many sponsor on here. Or a combo Turkey/Hog hunt?
Well Mr. Jack, get in touch when you get in and maybe we can go after rays or something. Travel safe bud. The family and I are well, I just can't figure out how to stop getting older. Every other hair in my weekend goatee is gray these days, not saying thats not cool or anything.

I liked the light and dark camo effect of my beard in the fall woods for a while. It's more snow camo these days. :D
Bob
hogs are fun and relatively cheep!
Great News, Jack. I can't make Baltimore but glad you will back on home turf for a bit. If you can get back for Denton Hill, we have a bunk for you!
Jed

Hey guys, wanted to bring this up again so say hey to everyone and get some more ideas.
Thanks, Jack >>>>--jg--------->>
There are a lot of options for different exotic animals in TX.
Be safe over there!

Jack Welcome Home My Brother!! Many Thanks For Your Service to Our Country ... It is Much Appreciated. I Hope to Meet You at Denton Hill...My vote would go to a hog hunt ...
Hogs are open year round in Florida!
Hay there . Turkey is open for a week after the Maryland traditonal shoot. I hope to go down to the shoot then get the last week of turkey on the eastern shore .
Kind of small potatoes but a good groundhog hunt is fun...and cheap!
Jack,
First things first...you still have a date to build your own hunting knife remember ;) How are you going to go hunting without your own personal knife. Unfortunately our SC lease hasn't panned out to be like the Bacon Strip for Hogs or I'd suggest you come visit...but we do have Redfish on the fly rod. tippit
Tippit, that all sounds great. Hmm, you know how i am, People make invites and i am not shy. Wonder if we all should converge on Flat Rock again. and i would love to catch some reds on the fly rod.
Hit me up with your schedule and lets do some knife building.
