What color and length and material(FF or non FF) string would you buy?
I hope this is okay to post..
I am going to a few shoots that i'll have a booth at and I am wondering what all I should have made up before I get there.. I know I am not going to be able to meet everyone's needs, but this is such a larger group, it should help me cover all of the basics.
so if you will, please post the color and length of a string you would purchase at a shoot.
Thanks in advance,
Daniel
I like three to four colors in my strings. Only one person I know of now makes them like that, but you can get some real interesting combinations. For me, almost always, for any of my seven bows, I will ask for red as one of the four colors for dacron B50 flemish strings. I shoot old Bears.
I like black, black and white, and black and red. For 64-inch r/d bows, 66-inch longbows and 60-inch recurves.
I typically look for 3 colors and favor dark red, black, dark brown, orange and yellow blends for my wood bows, depending on the colors of the limb glass and riser woods, and olive, black and bronze blends for my camo'd bows. Most trad hunting bows are 52-66 inches, which covers everything but the super magnums and the target bows, so that translates to strings 48-63". Good luck with your booth! If your string making jig is portable, I would definitely set it up and make strings at your booth, even if they are not customer-specific, so folks can see your material and workmanship quality.
I usually look for bright colors such as florescent green, yellow, or even pink with contrasting black.
I've pretty well settled on using Allen's strings and use his Virginia Sunrise combo B55. Another old Bear shooter here
Yellow and tan looks awesome on a blonde type longbow , teal and white is good on the old Grayling Green Bears , black and red is an old stand by as well as green and black .
Color dosen't really matter to me. As long as the string fits and does a good job I'm happy. But som people want certain colors. Maybe dark colors for hunting.
I had a couple of strings along the way that were a combination of a grey/green and bronze colored. Sounds weird but actually pretty cool.
Red, white, and Blue. Looks amazing and makes your arrows fly faster than a bald eagle riding the winds of freedom.
Polka dot....
I think if the strings look nice, people will buy them.
iv'e used a couple of your strings they are really nice, figure most recurve strings are 58 to 62" longbows now are crazy with some shrew type bows at 54 " and hill styles up to 70" I like bright colors to be able to see in low light nocking arrows just me good luck!

Thank you for your kind words. :)
Living in Michigan I have made many yellow/blue and white strings for those Go Blu lovers. I make strings to match the color in bows that I own or make for. I also make string keepers using colored leather to match the string or bow colors.
Only because you asked. That red, white and blue string looks really nice until I saw the black and white serving material. I would have used red or blue for the serving. JMHO
