I'm thinking about taking a new approach to business and see how it works. So tell me: what draw weight does everyone like to shoot? I don't need reasons, or discussions about if it's too light (not that it happens much here) too heavy etc. Just your individual weight or weight range you prefer. Thanks everyone.
50-55# @28
56 to 61
40-42 targets, and 48-50 hunting. It used to be more when I was younger!
43-45 3-D, 47-50 hunting.
47-52 @ 30"
60-65 @ 29"
48#-52# @ 28"
50-60
65-70@29
50-60#@ 28" 62"-64"
55ish @28
Most of my bows are 50#.Seems to be the right poundage for me.
53 to 60# @ 28"
45-60
Mike. Just a thought, why don't you set up a poll on here, more research based less reading. And you can do a scale of 5# increments.
45-50 for me
42 - 48 works for me (I'm 74). I lean toward the lighter for 3-D and the higher end for hunting.
50-55#s
Between 52#-57#@28 my bow I shoot the most right now is 66" 56#@28, but drawing right at 29.5"-30" so its closer to 62#. Actually prefer bows between 62"and 64". This Robertson at 66" is very smooth shooting.
50-60, I was going to recommend a poll like Matty did, I thought 5 0r 10# ranges
50-60
40-50
My preferred weight for hunting everything from deer to elk or moose has been 52-55# @ 29". But I've recently picked up a set of Rose Oak limbs for a Bear takedown that are 44@29" and I'm really liking the lower weight. If I were to buy a new bow I'd probably be looking for something in the 48-50# range.
52 - 54
50 is all I need
40-45@28
45-58# depending on game.
53#@30"
42#@27"
50#
45-50
Well I prefer 46-48, but a recent shoulder issue has me shooting more like 40-43.
Need to send my Falcon for weight reduction, or find something to replace it.
45-55
50 lbs is about perfect.
But 48-52 works for me.
Usually 48 to 50 but recently shot a 52lb tghost that felt great. I guess it could depend on the bow.
50-54#
50 3D hunting 60

55-60

Mike: Arthritis and age have me WANTING to start shooting 42-45 at 29". I now shoot 50-52 @ 29". I hope this helps.

When I was a young man 55/60 in my 20's/50's now that I an in mid 60"s I like 45/50 much more comfortable for me.Kip
51#-53# @27"
42# - 47# @ 28" is perfect for me.

62-67 @27" might drop a pound or two once I hit 60, in a couple years.
45lb to 47lb. I have dropped down over the years, ya age will do that and arthritis:-)
What ever average poundage you come up with Mike, take 5#'s off it and you'll have an accurate poll...... In the last 4 years The majority of the bows I have built have run between 45-50 @ 28"
50-60
47-52
45 to 50 at my draw
50-57 at 27"
53-55 #'s at 29
40-45#
40-45
50# is the perfect weight for me.
thank you, I have all the info I need.
45-80
50-55# right now but still working back up to 65# following an injury.
This thread has been an eye opener for me. It seems that the most popular weights are around 50#. I don't know why really, but for some reason I thought the average would have leaned a little more toward higher weight bows. I guess we know what works. That's not to imply that I think there's anything wrong with more weight. Before my rotator cuffs headed south, I shot 60# bows. Just sayin'.
Bob
55-60 pounds for me.

I'd have to agree with this. Good eye-opener for new shooters too. Proof that most shoot <50#.
48-52
I was just trying to get an idea of the median draw weight most used by members here. I pretty much have all I need. The idea is to have a few bows on hand that I can have readily available.
Mike, with the reputation your company has built I don't think you'll have bows on hand for very long.
50ish - Sorry didn't read all the way to the end before posting.
50-52.
48 to 52@30
45@26
3D.........42 to 43#'s
Hunting....52 to 53#s
Funny numbers but most of my sales have been between 47 lb. and 52 lb. at 28 in. The most have been on the lower end and very few over the 52.
Fact is most of my customers are long in experience and enjoy shooting a lot without hurting too much. I do have a lot of people ask for 47 lb for some reason.
God bless, Steve
51-54, but this winter I have noticed it has taken me longer to get my shooting strength back after a couple months lay off.
Being 62 may have something to do with it.
Same Here Stephen (Sixby) mid 40's - low 50's, I don't get more than a half dozen requests a year for 60# and up. But truthfully 60# is about the highest I care to build. A few I've made that high have been sent back with the request to "take a few pounds off".
39# to 43# @28 inches for 3D. I shoot light 26-inch arrows.
Two sets of limbs.
Indoors and off season, 42# @ 29"
Hunting, new limbs are 52# @ 29"
50 to 45 @ 28 ( my draw is 27"
50 - 75
