If you are shooting your riser with an elevated rest/plunger, what rest are you using? Got a 17" Gen2 coming and preparing to get it setup. Thanks in advance as always. :thumbsup:
I use a NAP Centerest Flipper, no spring in it. It works very well.
super T-300 without the metal spine plate or a springy.
Gen2 works real well with a plunger and felt furniture pad, just the right height.
I like to shoot off the shelf since it has an uncommonly nice radius for a metal riser. I know that isn't exactly what you asked for I but thought perhaps you were unaware. I use a shorty plunger with it and have no complaints. I guess it depends on what you want to do. Are you going to shoot vanes or feathers? Do you plan to adjust the plunger a lot, or set it and forget it? Are you going to hunt with this rig or target only? A better question might be, will this rig go in the woods? I ask because a lot of those plungers stick out a good ways. Potential for snaggage is likely. Hope this helps. Cheers
I shoot both the nap center rest flipper and a bear weather rest. I like both of them.
Dustin, I plan to hunt with the bow primarily. During our late season, it can get pretty wet and I had some arrows made up with 3" vanes to try this year. I am going to use a Shorty plunger and as far as adjusting it, well, I will adjust 'til I get great flight then leave it.
I have a 17 inch and I just got it. I am using one of the "plastic" type Centerrest. The one that doesn't have the flipper on it. I plan on getting the real Centerrest shortly. It works very well for me.
I am also going to try off the shelf too.

I have a 13" gen 3 and a 15" gen 2 metal Morrison risers. I shoot off the shelf without a plunger. I just like it simple without having to adjust things that can fall off when hunting...tippit

Not shooting plastic vanes...but I have shot two vanes and one feather for rain. You just have to play with the orientation of the feather off the shelf...not hard to do if you are shooting removable/rotating nocks on carbons.

With plastic vanes I would go with an elevated rest. Bomb proof would be a springy with the stiffest arm, a T-300, bear weather rest or hoyt hunter rest are also good choices. Never tried the nap center rest.
What about the Shibuya Ultima Recurve Rest? A little spendy but, I like the fact that you can adjust the arm in/out and up/down.
First I have seen one was with a quick search, wonder what the arm is coated with, may need something on it to silence the arrow drawing across it. Otherwise the support arm looks heavy enough.
I was thinking that if one coated it with some rubber glue, that might make a difference in whether it makes sound or not.
Well, didn't get a whole lot of feed back so, I'm going to give the Shibuya Ultima Recurve Rest a try. Got one on order and will install it on the Morrison when it gets here. Thanks to those who replied, TW.
I use moleskin on an arm like that but have heard of others using shrink tubing or tube from a can of wd40, good luck.
Great idea katman I have some small tubing that should work fine.
Looking forward to your opinion of the rest. I have a 19" version that I have a springy on with a 25 ounce spring. It shoots vanes and/or feathers like a champ.
