Well, I can honestly say I am completely satisfied with my NEW Tall Tines "Stickflinger" longbow. I own one of Brian's "Tundra" longbows and didn't think it could get any better, until I first shot this one that I preordered and picked up at the Kalamazoo show.
Seeing as I am going to go moose hunting this year, I wanted to up the draw weight of my longbow, and my only choice (since I was completely satisfied with my last purchase) was to call and order the new Hybrid model. Bow is 55# @ 28". By my calculations, that is 59# at my draw length. Macassar Ebony riser and brown glass limbs.
I have had the bow just over a month now. FMJ arrows, with 300 grains up front (to achieve 24% FOC) were initially tuned bare shaft...that was a simple and fun process...then I took some advice from Dr. Ashby and designed a fletch similar to his, BUT different. I'll call it the "MV fletch"...1 7/8" long and 5/8" tall. I used a banana chopper to make them. Once the entire set up was tuned, I then got to work seeing what kind of groups I could get in the basement. Max distance for now is 9 yards. So, arrows are now tuned to the bow (all 685 grains of them), Two Tracks string silencers installed and this is quite possibly the ULTIMATE setup For anything I will ever hunt in North America, and if I ever take the invite up to hunt New Zealand or South Africa, this Stickflinger will be coming with me. The arrows hit with authority, and the bow is deadly silent. What more could a guy ask for?
Once the snow is gone, I'm headed outside to tune the Tuffhead broadheads (as you can see below, I will be shooting single arrow groups from now on) and then look out moose, I'm on my way.
If any of you are on the fence about buying one of Brian's Tall Tines creations, don't wait. Act now. I promise, you won't regret it.
I'd like to thank everyone who has donated their time AND more importantly, their patience, to me as I picked their brains to build this entire setup. I couldn't have done it without the members of Trad Gang.

I cant wait to hear of your moose adventure. Perhaps in a PBS publication??
That's slick. Looks like you are shooting it well.
Very nice!
 Looks like a winner.......
Nice !!
Very nice looking bow. I shot one at Kalamzoo. I think there will be one in my future. Good luck on your moose hunt. Josh
Best of luck with that moose Mike, great looking bow and that set up will be killer. :archer2:
Tomahawk Archers are having their "Alaskan Game" 3D shoot in 2 weeks Mike. There will no doubt be a Moose target.
Awesome....told you!!!
Awesome Mike. I was very impressed shooting one as well at Kzoo. I have one coming my way this summer and can't wait.
Mike you may want to only shoot one shot groups once you put the broad heads on. You to be stacking them in there pretty tight. Nice looking bow.
Well that's interesting. I picked up a new Stickflinger at Kalamazoo to take moose hunting this year as well. It's not quite that fancy. I see I am WAY behind in my preparations...I think I will just take my Stckflinger up to Stickflinger's this spring to get it properly broken in and sprinkled with bear blood ;)
Looks good Mike.
Very nice!
Sharp looking bow, Mike. Good luck with the moose!
nice looking set up
Nice bow Mike, congrats. I just hope you can get it shooting better before your hunt. :D
Bob
Beautiful bow and great shooting mike hope to see a big moose on the ground next to it here in the fall!
Superb!
Superb!
Interesting fletching, Mike.
What does that short length buy you? Concentrates control at the very end of the lever where it would be most effective?
Equal steering/stabilizing with greater speed?
Quieter?
Great performing and beautiful set up. LOVE those full metal jackets!!
Jake
I'll send you a PM Ron.
Mike, looks like a dream setup! Good job sticking to it and working through the design and tune phases. I look forward to the next parts of the plan!
I gotta ask, is that a long cap wrap? If you insist on it, why not just 2" to cut down rear weight?
I can't wait to see this bugger in action on some 3D practice sometime soon!

That is an awesome shoot Rick. I've shot it a few times, and look forward to,it each year. Unfortunately, I will be out of town that weekend.
Thanks for all the kind words guys. I Really do appreciate them.
