I am getting ready to decide which head I will shoot for next fall. I want to get them soon and start shooting them every so often to see how they fly. I really see a lot of heads out there. With my arrow at 466 gr and 47# recurve I am leaning towards the 2 blade VPA penetrator , it looks solid. anyone care to share their experience with VPA heads, especially the 150 gr 2 blade?

Never shot the 2 blade. But I've shot the 3 blade 175's. They are bad news. I love them. Easy to sharpen. And fly great. You can't beat them. God bless.

Shot some 200gr VPA 2 blade thru hogs, the 150 is shorter but a tough head. Stuck in the dirt and heads where still pretty sharp.
-
they look tough. you guys just run them on a file to sharpen. i hear they are really easy to sharpen, and I like that!
-
I use the 175 grain 3-blade 1-1/8" cut & 250 grain 3-blade 1-1/4" cut and they are great broad heads. I have great confidence in VPA so the 2-blades I'm sure would be solid as well...

I use the 200 grain 3 blade and honing stone to sharpen them. I've never needed a file.

I shoot the 175s and love them

I shot a 2blade 250gr penetrator through a hog 2 weeks ago. They are sturdy. I bought a kme sharpener with the roller on it to use on a wet stone. Ibought it from 3river. Its one of the best ivestments Ive bought. It gets them so sharp we I check for sharpness shaving hair on my arm you can hear the blade slicing through the hair.

Shot my buck with a vpa 200 gr two blade. I can't sharpen two blades worth a damn other than single bevels so I switched to the vpa 3 blade 200s. These fly perfectly! And I just run them down a 12" file to sharpen which is almost idiot proof.

I shoot the 160 grain glue ons 3 blade. They are my favorite broadhead.
-
I love the 250 three blade. Deer and elk hate them.

VPAs fly even better than field tips!
I did replenish my stock of broadhead for the coming season!
I am a fan of the 300grs 3 blades

I don't have experiences with the 2 blade but my 3 blade Terminator 250 1-1/4" are very though almost indistructible, easy to sharpen. No hog is ever been lost with them and they shattered through all the bones in their way.
For your set up I would go with the 2 blade.

How do you recommend sharpening the 2 blades

Spend the money and buy a sharpening jig. Several on the market, one in particular (KME) is very adjustable. THEN, after getting it awesome sharp, buff it out on a cloth wheel ( drill or grinder based). O M G. . . just be careful.

KME for sharpening hard to beat.

katman, should I go 2 or 3 blade? 466 gr arrow from a 47# recurve
-
I use the 150 3 blades and love them. I just ordered some 175 3 blades also
-
love the three blade

Either should work if SHARP and I would not go higher than the 1 1/8" 3 blade with your setup. The two blade will be easier to get 2 holes so if you hunt from high tree stands I would go with the 2 blade with 47# IMO. I shoot a little more poundage and agree with Drew, the three blades are very good. The whitetail in my avatar did not appreciate the 3 blade VPA. :bigsmyl:

I have used the 150 grain and 200 grain 3 blade VPA with grew results. Last year I picked up some 2 blades that I like a to. I watched my buddy put a 200 grain 2B right the a 150# hog at almost 35 yards and it passed right thru. I am pretty sharpening challenged so that is why I was using the 3 blade.

The 2 blades are easily sharpened on a stone. They are tough & fly great.
-
The lightest 2 blade that I use is the 175 grain version...they look pretty small compared to other broadheads...you really do need to have one in hand before you buy...you might find the size puts you off a bit on your confidence level

I really like the 3 blade VPA's.
