What serving dia for a string made out of 18 strand BCY-X and a CE 150 Heritage arrow
Maybe someone will chime in that uses that exact combination. If not, I've found I have to do some experimentation anytime I'm building a new string / arrow combination. After making a good guess, serve 1/2" on the string test the fit on a nock.
Having 2 or 3 sizes of serving on hand is handy. It only took me about 50 strings to figure that out! Good luck.
If I remember correctly (and I'm pretty sure I do), I use .019 Halo and it works well with the "Launchpad" nocks on some CE Maxima Blue Streak 250's. Also works well with X nocks. I bet Chad will chime in at some point. If not, his handle on here is "LBR" and I'm sure he'd be more than willing to help if you PM him.
I like my nocks to lightly snap on so I use .021 Halo. If you go smaller one could always build it up with dental floss where arrow nock sits for your preferred fit.
X2- .021 Halo
wouldn't it be nice if nocks all had a standard opening size? Oh well.
Ah. but then you have 10 strand and 12 strand and different string type, and, and. . . . Then, after you get it just right, the areas wears a bit and arrows no longer fit. . or you change up on arrows.
How about somebody invent an easily adjustable nock opening that doesn't add weight and is still structurally strong ! Maybe with the bottom area large as a "big" string and the wings (easily)heat adjustable to close up some ?
Or. . I just need to practice my string making more...

This sure seems like the easiest way to KNOW you have the right one. A spool costs what, $4 - $5? And the shelf life is pretty good if you change string count and need a different serving.
And yes, it would be nice if all nocks fit the same. Sort of like all gas tank fills being on the same side of the car so you don't have to do the gas station waltz to get to a pump on the correct side. Or USB cords with commonality so you don't have to buy a proprietary cord for each device. Oh well.
No.4 nylon serving is around $4 a spool and is a .021 diameter serving,it doesn't come in different diameters.Halo and 62XS that is available in different sizes is around $15 to $25 a spool.
Wow! just looked up some prices on line. I got some real bargains!
