Title: Second 3D shoot for me.
Post by: VA Elite on February 28, 2015, 02:30:00 PM
Well we went out in the 8 inches of snow and freezing temps. I took score this time just to see if I improved from my first trad shoot. I shot a dismal 173 today, but I did not lose any arrows. I did better today than last time. I only missed 3 targets today, last time I think I missed the first 6! It was a good time and I found out just how important it is to find my anchor!

3D shoots are the bomb. Fun, friends, and archery fellowship.

I love shooting 3D!  It's a great activity that the whole family can do together.  For me, it's a lot like golf; I make some good shots, but have trouble putting together an entire round of good shots.

Yeh it's just like golf or bowling. On shot hits the 10 ring, the next is in the gutter!

I was at the Dixie shoot and shot with a past champion. He was super nice and his shooting was superb. He was shooting a low weight target bow with a clicker . Said his been shooting at tournaments since the 60's. I had a great time, wish I would've known about this club earlier its only 36 miles from my house!

Dixie's got a good piece of property...

Make sure you look into Fort Lee's shoot and Tidewater's shoot near Yorktown.

Fort Lee is great...especially their trad shoots.

I love 3d shoots. I hope to be out after turkey season again. I will be at an indoor 3d tomorrow though.

It sounds like you are improving VA

Agreed. I need to shoot in sub-freezing temps with snow on the ground more often. Fear of arrow loss does wonders for your concentration.

That's great you got out there a did it in the snow, and had some fun. I'm not that hard core anymore.

But... We've got one coming up on March 14th in The Dalles. There are only a small batch of single string archers, but we always have a blast up there..... The weather is typically cool and dry up in the Columbia gorge in March.

I was really bummed that I couldn't make it yesterday. Like Bill said, we will hit it wide open next month!  3D, beware! LOL

3D shoots are the sociability side of archery for me. As a hunter, I am basically a loner, but I really enjoy the group setting of the 3D events. I wish I could afford to travel extensively in the spring & summer to some of the northern events.
