Well we went out in the 8 inches of snow and freezing temps. I took score this time just to see if I improved from my first trad shoot. I shot a dismal 173 today, but I did not lose any arrows. I did better today than last time. I only missed 3 targets today, last time I think I missed the first 6! It was a good time and I found out just how important it is to find my anchor!
3D shoots are the bomb. Fun, friends, and archery fellowship.
I love shooting 3D! It's a great activity that the whole family can do together. For me, it's a lot like golf; I make some good shots, but have trouble putting together an entire round of good shots.
Yeh it's just like golf or bowling. On shot hits the 10 ring, the next is in the gutter!
Will likely end up shooting at least 25 events this year....lot's of enjoyment along with highly valued camaraderie.
I was at the Dixie shoot and shot with a past champion. He was super nice and his shooting was superb. He was shooting a low weight target bow with a clicker . Said his been shooting at tournaments since the 60's. I had a great time, wish I would've known about this club earlier its only 36 miles from my house!
Dixie's got a good piece of property...
Make sure you look into Fort Lee's shoot and Tidewater's shoot near Yorktown.
Fort Lee is great...especially their trad shoots.
I have shot compound at Ft Lee and it is a great shoot. Craig, were there today?
Yep got there around 11:30 had on a brown Trad Gang hoodie. Great time !
Our 3D league started 2nd week of January and goes til end of September. We shoot every Sunday, no matter below 0* or 100*. My daughter just asked when we are leaving in the morning!
I love 3d shoots. I hope to be out after turkey season again. I will be at an indoor 3d tomorrow though.
It sounds like you are improving VA
Craig I was there from 9:30 to 1:00. You must been shooting when I was. Wish I would have known you were there. Cylic, I think I'm improving quite a bit!
Had a good time today, Landon...just wait the Cool Springs crew start showing up. It'll get real interesting then :scared:
Looking forward to it! It was really quite nice out today considering....
Agreed. I need to shoot in sub-freezing temps with snow on the ground more often. Fear of arrow loss does wonders for your concentration.
Hey Doc! I plan to rally the Cool Springs Gang next month.
Hope to see you there!!
That's great you got out there a did it in the snow, and had some fun. I'm not that hard core anymore.
But... We've got one coming up on March 14th in The Dalles. There are only a small batch of single string archers, but we always have a blast up there..... The weather is typically cool and dry up in the Columbia gorge in March.
I was really bummed that I couldn't make it yesterday. Like Bill said, we will hit it wide open next month! 3D, beware! LOL

Glad you are enjoying your journey but the cold is getting to your brain, lo.l I am with Kirk getting to soft.
I made it to Dixie as well. New to this area would love to meet up with some that posted here. Let me know!
ALDO
ALDO, where you live?
You're an iron man, that's worth 50 points :archer:
VA Elite,
I am new to Midlothian, Brandermill area.
Congrats on the improvement. Keep having fun!
You guys should try and make it to Blackstone on the 14th. Ithink it's blackstonearchery.com
3D shoots are the sociability side of archery for me. As a hunter, I am basically a loner, but I really enjoy the group setting of the 3D events. I wish I could afford to travel extensively in the spring & summer to some of the northern events.
