I am wondering what you fellas do as far as length on your cat whiskers. I have been using mine around 1.25 inches long and I think they silencer really well, but they have a little rattle to them.
I have also seen them where they must be 4 or 5 inches long. What do you find works best?
It varies from bow to bow, person to person. I leave mine about 2" long.
I cut mine the length of my index finger
Check out this method , I really like the shorter whiskers on this method. The real long whiskers slap the string and make their own noise.
Ryan from HI shows you how to do these, not hard at all either!!

I cut mine to about 1&7/8" to 2",tie them in the middle and separate them. Then I trim them to where they are alittle uneven.I used to use 3" strips but I felt that didn't work or quieten them as much as the shorter cat whiskers.I tie them on with some D97,I like to tie them on tight.I tried using B50 but would break them tying too tight, not strong enough.I don't like them to droop like when they are too long,I like them in alittle ball.I feel it works better.
I like to cut every third whisker to 3.25 inches, every second whisker to 1.75 inches and leave the others at full length. This covers the entire spectrum of harmonics that might be made by the string at any location that the whiskers may end up at.
OK, I'm lying, but it was sure fun writing the above. I use Wooly thingies.

I stack two one inch squares and tie in the middle to make a puff ball, very similar to the link posted above.
I cut mine at 2" or so, and use a very small zip tie. I buy them at Jan's Net Craft. They're the rubber legs that make the tails on crank baits. Many different colors available.
About 3/4" either side of the knot, 1 1/2" total. Any longer and I get rattle. All my bows are Hills FWIW.
Same as stagetek.

I prefer the heavy duty whiskers, cut them 8" long, fold it over then tie a very tight granny knot around the bow string.
Then pull each end down tight and cut them off to my desired length, which measures 2". Even with a tight knot, I can still move them up or down on the string.

I've been doing mine basically the same as S2 for years.
Left too long, they make their own noise. Tied on properly, they work great, will stay in place, but can be adjusted. Look nice and clean IMO.
All I do, is a over hand knot and cut them ~ 1.5" in length. I never measure how long I leave them....it's just by eye.
Any bow I receive with zip tied silencers get cut off and installed my way.
Every once in awhile I have to retighten them.
I cut mine to 1.25", place two pieces together, tie them in the middle with string material, separate my bowstring where I want them, and just let the string hold them in place. This has worked well for me.

2X only i tie mine on and trim the ends with scissors to get about a 1.25" ball... if you separate them by hand into 1/4" pieces, then cut them with scissors after stretching them out they separate evenly.... heres a little video.

I leave them as long as I can. I tried cutting them down, but that just made more noise. I simply tie them in a granny knot. works great, and you can slide them up and down the string until you find the perfect spot.
