One of my Boys (Step son, but I don't treat him as such) he's about to turn 21, asked if he could use one of my bows. He explained he wanted to get back into shooting, and his friends wanted him to go with them to some 3/d shoots. His friends all use modern gear and he told me he wanted the challenge of using one of my longbows. Of course he's welcome to it. When it was good to see him take up shooting again today. He shot a lot and shot well. He shot like how he did back when he was 12 and still thought I was "cool".
That's great,and a good feeling.
Ain't that great. Seems like we start losing boys in archery about the time girls become interesting to them. Good to see them come back. Hope it sticks. Congrates.
I know the feeling Mike! Our daughter moved out to Greeley,CO a couple years ago to start her career as a teacher. She actually called me to see if I would bring her bow out to her when we went out for a visit last weekend  On our way home she sent me a video of her shooting at Rocky Mountain Archery in Ft.Collins!!
Sometimes it just takes a while for that seed to sprout! Just plain awesome!

Good stuff!
It's always comforting to see them come back to their roots. I keep hoping that my son will come back to traditional archery again. He is going to be 22 soon. I'm glad for you Mike.

I always like hearing these kinds of stories. Well done!
It's funny how well raised kids come full circle, Lord knows it took me awhile, lol. So he was 12 and still thought you where cool that means I have 8 years left of being cool to my boys, I hope. God Bless you and you family Mike
That's great to hear. I wish him great success with his new/ old ventures. :archer:
Good stuff Mike!!!!
Great!!! They never forget what they were taught when they were young, sometimes it just takes a little time to come back around.
Very cool and he still thinks your cool but would never let you know it. ;)
That is good stuff.

Yeah, I think a lot of the boys lose interest in the bow when they discover girls, but I have an idea. All you guys with daughters need to get them involved in archery. That way the boys can meet girls who also like archery. That will make the trips to the range doubly interesting, even if it becomes a bit dicey for the fathers of the girls. Anyway, its always good to read about a young man renewing interest in the bow.
My oldest daughter was my shadow until about the same age. She shot a martin prodigy recurve and she shot great. Well, same thing, I took a back seat. She is 22 now and she just bought a compound so she could hunt with dad. I see a lot of summer 3-d's in the near future.
I'm happy that it is working out for you as well.
I have a theory on children that I can't prove. Aliens come and take them when they are about 14 and leave a poorly trained clone in there place. They bring them back at about 20. This the only thing that explains their development.
