I have a 64" longbow, and just purchased a new "standard stock" 61" bowstring. My question is......... that it takes 52 more twist to bring the brace height to specs. How many twist in a string is too many? Should I just put this bowstring back and buy a custom 59.5" string that will not require additional twist?
Thanks
More than 2 twists per inch is too many. I don't like more than 1 twist per inch.
The more I play with strings the more I am convinced that as long as the shooting is okay the amount of twist in a quality string is pretty much irrelevant...I am sure that there is an optimum amount of twist for a target shooter, but I doubt a bowhunter will be able to notice any difference...still there is something odd going on there as I had three different strings for my ACS CX and they were all pretty much bang on for length without twisting them up much at all

If it coils up on itself when you unstring, then it has too much twist that will likely result in premature wear.
Yep, this bowstring is for an Adcock ACS 3pc longbow, and yes it wants to curl up and twist on itself......... Maybe I will buy a new string, and keep this one for emergency use.
Thanks for the input.

I like them more like McDave. I read an article once that stated more than 4 twists per inch coursed less than optimum results.
Something to do with the engineering of cables or something.
It can start acting like a spring.
All that being said I'll twist one up to work if I'm being too lazy to make another.
