I went out this morning to fling a few arrows....it was -22 degrees. It had warmed up slightly by time I got around to taking this picture. I shot exactly 1 arrow and came in. Thank God there's no wind....

Roger- 1 arrow is not "a few". Go back out and shoot at least 2 more. Dang it's cold up there!!! Stay by the fire as much as you can. :campfire:
I had the same temp here in PA this morning. Too chilly. Monday morning I had -34. Ready for spring...
This is getting old, come on spring.

Brrrr! Welcome to my world.... Heater body suit is the only way to handle those temps.. You're right about the wind!
And btw...since your wool is no longer good to you, just send it to me! Ha
It's warm here in eastern CT. 8*F.
I shoot in the basement. Only 13 yards, but warm enough for more than one shot.
-20 here this morning, come on spring!!!!!!
I went out to feed the birds and replace their water and just about froze my fingers off.
1 arrow to many for me...minus 22... basement 62 12 yard shot. We're good.
It's a balmy 5 degrees here in Indy. Of course, my kids have been on two hour delay for 3 straight days. I don't know, I don't ever remember getting 2 hour delays because it was cold.
I'll be out slinging arrows around 3P. It'll be 18 degrees by then and plenty warm enough.
Stay warm bowman
For the life of me, I just can't imagine why anyone would want to live in a place that is colder than the inside of my freezer. :saywhat:
But, to each his own. I'm sure than cabin fever has its own benefits.
Just got in from walking the dog. I was in shorts, he didn't wear anything but his collar. I'm heading out to do some stumping (shorts and tee shirt). Here is a picture from a recent hike.

Just couldn't help myself, as I noticed that it was snowing at home, too. This snowbirding stuff isn't a bad gig.
Here is why we stay....this is the creek our ShreHaven camp sits on...although this pic is 4 MONTHS OLD :scared: ! Winter stays long this far up...

centaur could you send some of that our way?
I think my friends and family are sick of hearing me say I'm moving to Florida. A typical comment is "You know you'll miss your deer hunting..." My response "There are deer there....and pork is my favorite vegetable....."
was minus 27 here this morning. walked out side. took a deep breath. Had to run back in cause my nostrils were froze shut!
A weather service probe near michigamme (about 30 min. for Iron River) had -40 yesterday morning! Not to far from shrewheaven. I had -35 yesterday before work. My dog doesn't ever want to be out.

LOL! Well put brother. I am here in Petoskey Michigan wondering why I live here. My wife tells me that my hair is getting a bit grey around the edges. I am sure it's freeezer burn.
Roger
I question your sanity for attempting that shot in those temps:)
I have had enough.......moving south in the not to distant future. Winter used to be fun but not any more...........going to Georgia where I can hunt and fish most of the year.
My daughter lives in Lake City ,Fla. says it's going to be cold overnight 30 degrees...told her heck, dad could wear shorts in those balmy conditions. She has turkeys in her back yard daily...hmmmm!
I saw -31F for a few seconds on way to work this morning. Near Holly, MI. :scared:
Balmy 80 degrees here mostly year round. Spent a winter in WV after I retired from the Navy in 1993, got snowed in 5 times that winter, could not even get out of my driveway, and said the heck with it and moved back to Guam.
It was almost 40 degrees here!
Todays low was 40 deg and high mid 60's. Idk how you function in -20 deg temperatures!!
Rog, I bet even the ghost of Armstrong Creek is freezin' his tail off. :campfire:
That's just it, we don't function, we walk around like zombies, only difference is we're all bundled up because, we can feel the cold !
0-F this AM, with a good stiff wind !
Don't you guys watch any news at all? Our great leader Barry The Great, his friends call him President Obama, has said that climate change, the more slippery term for global warming, is our greatest threat. This is nothing, remember a very short time back, during the very bottom of the sun's 11 year cycle, winter was much colder and lasted much longer. Right now the sun is more or less on an upward cycle, so count on next summer being unbearably hot, at least in Florida.
Brass monkeys definitely in trouble here this morning. :scared:

yep...he runs about nekked!
LOL. It's in the 40's here.
t shirt weather!
I miss my winter! :banghead:
- 37 yes actual temp. Not wind chill. Yesterday morning going to work. It warmed up to 8 and sunny when I got off work. I almost took my jacket off and drove home with the windows down.
Pretty sad when 8 feels warm.
Just saying...........
Tim

We'll sure miss ya Buddy! Make sure to visit home often!
To anyone perhaps remotely interested, it was plus 35f in Whitehorse, Yukon Territories today!
FL at the keys was 29* this morning but warmed nicely to mid 60's by mid afternoon. I have a friend spending FEB there and get irritating reports!
Here in TN it was -2* this AM and warmed to a balmy 23* by late afternoon. Did you know homes here are not built to take this mess?!
I'm finding out the hard way! :(
Dave, you can come on up and sit by my fireplace anytime. God Bless!
The flowers are blooming out here,. Sunny southern Oregon. 70 plus today and perfect weather.
God bless, Steve
The nut and fruit trees are blooming here. Going fishing tonight in a t shirt to start out. might have to put on a flannel shirt later might get to 48-50 later.
Wool? How many of you guys remember using an old coffee can with a few charcoal briquettes in your blind?
homebru
Roger, some days are just too damn cold to go outside.
Embarrass MN thurs made national news with the coldest temp...-41 without the windchill. those are some tough animals to live in that stuff.
Darn cold here today too. -12 this morning.A used bow I ordered from Ted Fry came in Wed and I have been setting it up and tuning some. Could not stand it and went out this morning to shoot a few thru it. Took a handful of arrows out with me and of the bunch , busted nocks on three of them. Plastic nocks on aluminum shafts sure get brittle.
You can move to Florida, but once you get used to the heat, "cold" weather is in the 50's. I was born and raised in Florida-40 degrees was miserable!!! I was 20 years old before I saw snow-in Denver, CO. It's all about what you get used to!
That's some cold weather, reminds me of when I lived in Cleveland near Lake Erie.
But that was then, as today was 50 with overnight low's in mid 30's.
For all of you with cabin fever I'll shoot a few stumps in your honor tomorrow at the range as we prep a 3D shoot for next week.
Don't know how you guys do it. Would trade your hunting grounds around home half the year. But Last week it was 80. Cooled down to 70s this week.
-24 yesterday morning when I went out to start my truck for work at 5:45am...trees were popping it was soooo cold!
when it gets this cold I get out the ole buffalo coat and my fur hat. Keeps me plenty warm, I've got some fine wool under it. :bigsmyl:

Two Tracks heavy wool works mighty good too

Roger it's so heavy her knees would buckle under the weight, but "the wind will not go through it"

Nope!!!!!!!!
I don't see how you guys in those. Old places can hunt! I would be frozen stiff if I tried to hunt there!
Bisch
Yep, some do

Warmed up to a balmy -2* w/o any wind. Seems real nice outside this morning,I think I'll make a path out to my target & shoot alittle before the next storm gets here.
And now it's snowing .........again!

Ron it's so funny you posted that pic. I just watched Jeramiah Johnson last weekend and that guy reminded me of you :D
Great movie!!.........Grizzz.
+28 today...shorts & flip/flops
No snow in Wasilla, AK and rained off and on today. Way too warm. Water on the route for the IRONDOG>
Funny part is that while the east is freezing the earth as a whole is on track to being the warmest or second warmest year since we started keeping records.
Your in luck, your thermometer only goes down to -40. I once hunted coyotes when it was -20, they weren't out.
