Met a lot of great people during those years.....had the privilege of flying Medal of Honor Vice Admiral John Buckeley from my home station of NAS Cubi Point, Philippines to Manila. During WW II, he was the PT Boat Commander who took General McArthur from Corregidor when the Philippines fell to the Japanese. Also made my first carrier landing on the same ship my dad was a fighter pilot on during WWII, U.S.S. Lexington. My first Commanding Officer was a POW for 7 years in the Hanoi Hilton.

Terry, I do not consider myself a vet cuz I was at Ft. Campbell Ky. for only 23 days (doing KP, policing the area(picking up cig. butts) then they said go home, you have a bad eye. I did get a 214 and honorable discharge .... I guess I did well at KP and policing the area. Thanks to all those who served.

HI Al, I flew Charlies and got some front seat time in Snakes, but they got to my unit too late for me to get qualified. What time I did get in them, they were quite the machine compared to the Charlie model, but I did really like having the two extra sets of eyes (and M60s) sitting behind me.

The American legion is out giving the red paper flowers out today, usually one takes one and contributes some $, it was nice to see young adults going up and getting a flower and contributing, wish I saw more of it.
