Famous Whitetail Tracker , Lane Benoit passed away from a Heart Attack, Feb.9th. Having met Lane, and his brothers, and sharing a visit with Larry in his home in Vermont, the world lost a Master at tracking down deer in the Big Woods of northern New England and Canada.
R.I.P. Lane
Tracks in the snow.....
Sad news, he seemed like a generous man who lived life in a big way.
Very sad to read this. I have always had the up most respect for that family. RIP Lane and Larry
Another legend gone sad news, I remember reading about their hunting and tracking skills in the national sporting magazines, what a great family.

Being truly great and/or being a legend takes a long time...it is likely happening and we don't know it...which is good.
Sorry to hear this my thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family what hunters those guys were!!RIP
These guys were the best at what they did and quite frankly tracking in any form is s dying art in my opinion.
Prayers sent
I read about the family for years, also hunted in similar fashion in the Adirondacks......but never as successful as they were. But it's a fact of life......we all are getting older and this don't last forever. Great to keep these legends in our thoughts.
Sad to hear of the passing of a great outdoorsman. Prayers sent for his family.
Met them in Rangeley Maine years ago when Larry was with them.
What a naturally skilled family.
He lived a good life, the way he wanted.
He is with his Dad, watching over the brothers.
Scott, glad you got a chance to spend time with a true big woods hunter! I'm sure he helped you on your big woods adventures, you will always think of him when you are in te north country...
Just finished one of their books. RIP Lane
Sad news indeed. I've been a fan of the Benoit family for many years having read Larry's book "How to kill the biggest buck of your life" many years ago. Larry passed away in 2013 at the age of 89.
The Benoits make some great deer hunting videos but haven't heard much about them for a few years
This is certainly sad news. I enjoyed reading about their adventures, and learned a lot about the finer details of hunting, that would have taken years to pick up on without their contributions to the hunting community. My thoughts and prayers to the family as well.
I'd sure like to see some of their videos. Anyone know where I might find one?
The DVD's can be found at: Benoitbigbucks.com.
Wow, seems like the idols of my youth are slowly going....Thoughts and prayers to the family.

Prayers sent. I was always fascinated reading about the Benoit's deer hunting.
Kevin, I understand what you meant. Blue Skies ahead Lane, RIP.
I have always loved reading about the Benoit. How sad. What a legendary family of woodsmen.
