Well, I opted for the Lone Wolf Alpha Tech F1 tree stand for this years hunting. I also wanted to shoot my Dalaa without a bow quiver so, I got this 3 arrow Bohning w/quick detach so I could remove it while in the stand. But, it also makes carring my arrows to the stand easier as I will be packing the stand on my back 'til I get where I want.
Anyone else do this?

Most of my hunting buddies do exactly that..... I use a cat quiver, myself.
It works good for them.... just hang them on a hanger when they get up in the stand.
Good luck and God bless,
Rodd
My buddy does the same thing.
That thing was shiny black so, I painted it to blend a little better. I also put a thin piece of leather behind the mount so as not to rub my riser.
I've been doing that for years. Works well.
Nope. My bow quiver stays on the bow from a month or two before season until after season closes. But, whatever floats your boat.
I too prefer a bow quiver on. I just like the weight, and although it is few and far between, like quick access to another arrow for those whoops moments.
But a nice setup you will be hauling!
Thanks, that bow is fast and shoots perfect without anything else on it. I don't want to mess with a good thing. I'm only entertaining this idea so, open to others as well.
I used to put an extra quiver mount on my stands so that I could have a place to put it while in the stand.
JAG, how would I go about mounting that quiver on the stand? I was just thinking how I was going to hang it once it comes off in the stand.
I have always preferred to shoot with no quiver on my bows so I've always used some sort of hip quiver or pack quiver. This year I might go with a strap on selway or other quiver and just remove it when I get to stand.
I hunt with, among other stands, a Lone Wolf Alpha Hang-on stand. I use four Lone Wolf climbing sticks and it's a great set up. Like you, I don't use a quiver mounted bow while hunting. For me, I've found that a quiver causes me to shoot left. That said, I've stopped using quivers mounted to my bow. I carry my arrows on a quiver with parachute chord, slung over my shoulder. My concern is that if I put the quiver on my bow while walking in or out, I may get a shot and found the animal with the quiver attached.
I use a cat quiver, and hang it on my stand when packing in. I also have a bow mount quiver I use from time to time. Depends on how much thick brush I need to hike through. I keep my options open and practice like I hunt.
I have done that in the past.
I tied a piece of fairly stout cord around a portion of the quiver to make a loop just large enough to securely hang on a branch or bungee wrapped around the tree. I want the quiver in arms reach, not on the ground, or tucked in some out of the way place.

My bow quiver goes on my bow and stays on my bow. Shooting with it on all the time takes any doubt out of how my arrows are flying with it on.
No, you are the ONLY one in the world that does this!!!
:biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh:
I zip tied a small binder clip in my stand and hold the quiver in it while hunting.
Use to hunt with a 3 arrow Kwickee and had an extra bracket screwed upside down on my stand. after climbing and hoisting up my bow I would remove it and slide it in the extra bracket.
I always remove my quiver when I get into my tree. That's why I like the Bear spring arm quivers. Easy on and off.
Honestly a couple of my largest deer were taken w quick follow up shots. I have been in the stand with 3 different friends who screwed up the first shot on beast huge bucks then started scrambling for the quiver hanging in the tree. They completely messed up easy 2nd shots. Learn to shoot w the quiver on and learn to handle the arrow by the nock as John Shulz teaches.

My quiver goes on and never comes off. I practice year round with it on loaded with arrows minus the one that would be out while I am hunting
I hunt the same way you are planning. Stand on your back, hike to spot, set up and hunt, take everything down, and carry out on your back.
This is the best method I have found and the only way i hunt. You will love doing it this way. you will find that you will have 100 good spots to hunt rather than 5-10. Now that you are going to hunt this way scout, scout, and scout some more. Get a note pad and log every potential stand site you find while scouting. Log good and bad wind options at each along with enter and exit routes. By the time the season rolls around you will have a ton of spots. then all you have to do during the season is look at the weather, look at your log, pick a spot, hike in, kill critter, hike out, eat fresh backstraps!
I have some great videos on my site that show how to set up the same way you are planing as well as videos on how to do it as safe as possible.
If you have any questions on hunting this way hit me up! Its the only way I hunt and been doing it for a long time. Dan (KSdan) Hunts the exact same way and uses an very similar set up. We just did a podcast together that will publish in a couple weeks with alot of this same subject covered.
Wow, thanks Jason for the great tips. Heading to your site now to have a look see.
I seem to be in the minority on this topic. But as with a couple of others here, I practice with a loaded quiver and leave it on at all times. I want that next arrow within inches as I have had more than one follow-up shot. Wont' go in to the reasons why but I'm sure y'all can guess. Also don't want to miss any opportunities while entering or exiting my stand site. I personally don't have any problem with shot placement with/without quiver attached. Guess I'm lucky in that regard.
I did just what you are talking about for many seasons but I used a Kwikee Kwiver. I even mounted a spare kwik attach bracket to all of my loc-on stands and my climber. It is a tried and true system. Climb up get settled in pull your bow up, detach the quiver and attach it to your stand, nock an arrow and get ready.
