Title: Where else but our own Classifieds?
Post by: YORNOC on February 10, 2015, 06:51:00 PM
Just have to say what a damn pleasure it is having such a great classified section available to us.
Such great deals, great people who are willing to work together with no issues. No hidden fee's, it simply is what it is.
I've bought and sold hundreds of bows, quivers, arrows, etc elsewhere and nothing compares to our Tradgang group of people. Extra stuff thrown in, good conversations, just great stuff.
Thanks to the Mods, and thanks to all our people.
Fun stuff, I love it.

I keep trying to stay strong and not get access.  As Dirty Harry said, "A man's got to know his limitations."  I know if I get on there I will loose all control

Just stinks to have to pay just to view the classifieds

I don't have the $ to buy a bow off there or anything, but sometimes I need a doz field points or some feathers or to trade broadheads etc.

Oh well, nice to know you aren't going to get scammed in there at least!

I've been considering paying the annual membership fee so I can access the classifieds.  I don't think I'll get 30 dollars worth of savings on gear to offset that price but I know that in contributing that I'll be helping the site's bottom line which is worthwhile as we all know that these forums aren't cheap to run and maintain.

Maybe someone can help me make my decision.....ARE the classifieds active, busy...well used or is it a wasteland?

I continue to have great success selling (and, unfortunately, buying).

Having said that, I would subscribe just for the entertainment value of looking at what's out there. I've spent a lot of money on coffee, snacks and stuff that does me no good. I think it's a great value.

If you regularly buy traditional archery gear the classifieds are a great value ... if you buy one or two small items a years maybe not a good value.

There is a fair amount of activity in the bows, arrows, clothing, and quivers forums. Enough that it pays to check daily for good deals. I just bought a bow from a classifieds contact that probably retails for $1200 or more, my price ... $700 ... $30 is well worth supporting this great site without trying to calculate the value of the classifieds, but just speaking of the classifieds I get $30 of fun just window shopping let alone all the bargins I have enjoyed over the years..

If you check the classifieds about everyday like I do that $30 breaks down to 8.2 cents per day

Just *AWESOME* people here!

It is an oasis from the rest of the internet gauntlet!

Enjoy!

Just bought a mint 9.999/10 condition 2014 Toelke Chinook recurve for $425 shipped off the classifieds.  That's an $800 bow.  That's not the only bow or other gear I've bought in the past year, nor does it count what I've sold myself.  The $30 was more than worth it just for the Chinook.

For me it is worth the price just to get to look at all the different bows. I don't do a lot of buying and selling on a "yearly" basis, but have bought and sold several over the years.

Hope to ALWAYS be a contributor!

I think it's a good set up even though I have yet to send my 30 bucks in. Probably when I'm up and shooting again the motivation will be there, I'll be looking for a lighter bow to get me by. Reason I like it is most crooks are not gonna pay to steal.

I think it is a great way to contribute to the best site there is! It's no more expensive than a magazine subscription. But here you get honest people by the handful, great camaraderie and new  friends that you my otherwise never know. Which to me is worth every bit of $30 to me.

I like the idea of keeping the bad guys out and make buying and selling experience somewhat nicer. But.. I also have to watch this 30$ and that $25 more these days as we are living off our retirement checks. Now I tend to spend on what I really need more than what I like to have. I  will most likely pay the money but when I am ready to sell.
What keeps me from  the classifieds or even using them whether it is here or wherever is my fear of having the buyer not be satisfied. I know you can send pics but up close and personal someone may be disappointed. That bothers me.

I'd pay it just to support the site.  The ability to buy or sell is a great option here.  But the real benefit is the people who frequent this site that  you get to meet.
My only wish would be that the renewal time would not fall during my hunting season.  But even that is no big deal.
Thanks to all who make this site happen.

To me, if someone contributes to the site, that about says it all. You are someone that I can trust and is trustworthy.
My last two deals, I sent the bow out as soon as the buyer said I'll take it. It's a longer wait I find between our countries, postal wise and most buyers are antsy for their "new" bow. I know I am!
Not been a problem, each buyer has sent the money off as expected.
Seems to be a bit of a buyers market, some great deals on there. $30.00 isn't even a 24 of beer up here, so I have no problem with the "expense".

Ron, you must be new around here?!  You should check them out.

I just bought some Grizzly Stiks a few weeks ago at a very good price.  Add the $30 to be a Tradgang Contributor to what I paid for these arrows, and I'm still about $125 under retail; way ahead after only one deal.  I think the $30 fee keeps a few miscreants out of the bin.  I've had nothing but positive experiences with quality people.

I got more than that in 3 free broadheads from someone in the classifieds about a month ago. Posted about wanting to buy one to try out, someone sent me 3 different heads all for free.

Two years ago someone sent me a dozen free arrows as well. You easily get your money back 10 times over just from dealing with generous people.

Your contribution isn't a classifieds fee.

It's money paid to help support Tradgang's web site.

I can't remember the last time I visited the classifieds(staying strong)but if I were looking for something this would be the 1st place I'd look.

If I didn't see it right off I'd post up an "ISO"(in search of) ad then sit back and see if it turned up anything that met my need(s).

Back on the right rabbit trail- the classifieds are awesome but they are only for contributors.

I can't say enough good things about how Tradgang is managed and patrolled for our benefit.

God bless,Mudd

This is my only recreational site; I visit it every day, and learn something almost as often, and for that alone, the $30 is worth it for me, even if that is not the reason the fee became mandatory for accessing the classifieds.  I buy occasionally, and sell even more occasionally (i.e. once) and my experiences have been good.  I HAVE wondered whether those who sell (or trade) more frequently have seen longer wait times without casual browsers seeing their offerings.

I have sold a few big items on Craigslist and am now over 20 known scam attempts.
The 30 bucks to have some security and peace of mind is really priceless.
I really thank and support Terry and Rob in this decision.

I usually contibute several years in advance not just for buy/sell although I do that but to keep the integrity of this site going the direction it is headed. Well worth it.

The classifieds are fantastic because you are buying from members.  Many are names we recognize which is good.

I had to wait late this last fall too to contribute my share for the site, but will always be willing to to do so. Lots of talent with the members on all aspects of traditional archery and bowhunting and some good thought provoking questions too.  Hope to be a member till they plant me on the 44.

Be sure to check out the Sponsers site on the classifieds too. I have never sold there but someone always has great deals on bows and knives and materials ect there. When I leave here I almost always check out the Trad bow sales. I get myself in a lot of trouble doing that but man , a man has to do what a man has to do.
The paltry fee is the best money you will spend entertainment wise but and when you see that great deal you better grab her fast. I was looking at that Toelke static recurve myself. I could not believe what it sold for and what a deal for the lucky guy that bought it.

God bless, Steve

Guess I am like a lot of others here, really cheap.  I have never considered accessing the classifieds as part of my thought process when paying for my contributing membership each year.  As much time as I spend on this site each year, thirty bucks is a bargain.  The classifieds are just an added bonus.  TANSTAAFL.

I currently have a bow listed here and another site where it receives more traffic however I prefer to sell my bow here because I know the buyer will more than likely not try and scam me out of the bow. There is something to say about comfort levels...

Just to clarify. my post is not about a fee.
If you use the Classifieds, whether to look or buy/sell....its a great place. If you choose not to because of a fee involved, to each their own. Nothing wrong with that, stick to your values.
For those that do use the classifieds, its awesome. Like I said, where else do you buy a bow and get a free quiver with it without knowing until the bow arrives?
Or after a sale, end up setting up a hunt somewhere the upcoming season with the person you just dealt with?
How about getting a surprise bow mailed to your door free because you are injured, made a comment on a bow in the classifieds that you liked the bow but couldn't consider it because of your heath/injury? Then a 25# old bow shows up because someone gives a damn and wants to help you keep shooting?
I threw some extras in one time for a guy and he goes and sends me a knife he made himself.
I sent some extras to a trad brothers kids once and the photos of them all with giant smiles and thank you signs is the best thing I ever received.

This is an outstanding place to buy sell and trade. Just plugged some numbers in the e*** fee calculator.

Example, bow listed on the big auction site with a minimum bid of $500, reserve of $750 and a selling price of $900. Total fees to sell------$99.50. Makes $30 look pretty good!

The classifieds are the bane of my existence!! I was a one bow man till I discovered Tradgang and the seductress they call the classifieds!!!  It calls to me...tantalizes me.... Then to weed out the scammers, they implemented the contributor factor.....I thought I was saved!!  but I caved.

I've bought some really beautiful high end bows for as much as half the price and with out the wait!!  I'm pretty sure that I have my dream bows now!!

Not to you.  Not sure how you took it toward you.

I know one thing, I can't post from a phone anymore, cause I goof everything up.

One guy left a couple of days ago because I created a duplicate post, and I removed one that had a few less post on it that weren't on the other one, and some guys thought I deleted there's and one guy left over it.

I opened this back up just to say thanks.  I got back into town last night, and the paypal and checks that were on my desk this AM were more validation of the decision we made to 'clean up' the classifieds.

Thanks to all those that contributed due to this thread, and those that wrote notes that it was based on the other thread that got locked.

I''m going to draw for the free hunt probably in April.

Thanks again.
