I've been messing around with 100gr field tips (vs 125) with my Grizzly and found my arrows are flying even better, just perfect. I'm using 1916's and pulling 46#. I have some 100gr Muzzy MX3's; what do you think about using them on deer this fall? :dunno:
Keep your shots close and put it in the right place, you'll be fine. Muzzy and Thunderheads 3 blades have killed a ton of deer.
It is a broadhead that has to punch a hole before the blades start to do the cutting. I would go with a cut on contact head over that one. Just my $.02.
I was doing a search last night on 100gr heads and Simmons has a Landshark that is 100gr and they are killer heads. All pun intended! :D
I have killed several deer using a 1916 tipped with a Thunderhead 85. Just hit 'em in the right spot.
While I was throwing around my $.02, I really don't have any experience with that type of head. Just going off of some things I read.
Allen, was your penetration pretty decent with that Thunderhead?
Arrow was sticking in the dirt on most of them.
Probably killed around 40 deer with muzzy 3 blades in my compound days. I feel there are much better options available for use with a stickbow, particularly if it a little on the low energy side. I shoot heavy enough setups that I am sure those heads would work fine on deer. Still prefer other heads. Good luck to you.

If funds are an issue, I definitely believe in using what you got. I am going to give this one in the green a try this year based on some results I've read about. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Buying new heads is not a problem, but I used them with good results out of the wheel bow and since I already had them I wondered how they would do. My concern is adequate penetration. If I'd be better off with a 2 blade like a few that have been mentioned already then I would go that direction
I shoot mostly cut in contact 3 blades now, but the others worked just fine "back in the day".
If they have the trocar tip they will work.
wannabe. . . just wondering, are those heads made in China ? I see stuff like that on **** all the time.
I believe they are made right here in the good ole USofA. The company is out of MO. and the guy that owns it developed the head. PM'd you a link to their website.

They do
I used muzzy for 11yrs and killed many deer with them but that was on a wheel bow. I love muzzy's but switched to a single bevel cut on contact head when I went traditional. I think muzzy a have a lot going for them when they have all that fps behind them just don't feel they are probably the perfect fit for our traditional bow's.
Consider the muzzy phantom, one of the best screw on heads around.
My nephew shot a buck at xmas time and used a muzzy . I tried to tell him otherwise as he had only a 48# d bow and a light carbon arrow but he's stubborn . He came back the second night with a little 4x4 and had got a pass through . Ha he showed me .
