Title: Did my best at bare shafting
Post by: VA Elite on February 07, 2015, 08:37:00 PM
So I did a little bit learning today. This afternoon I took a bare shaft and shot along with a fletched arrow. The wind was stiff blowing to my left.  Lesson one. Don't try bare shafting with a 15-20 mph wind. For me anyway. My arrow was nock left. After about  10 shots i stopped. Later this evening no wind I tried again. 15 yds arrow was flying straight. I was getting nock high results. I tinkered with nock height a bit. After several attempts I ended up where I started. I settled down and began getting a solid anchor and release. At 16 yds the bare was dead on. I shot a few more shots with fletched and they were good as well. There is a new bow in my near future, very near. I will attempt to bare shaft with that bow. Just felt good doing something and just maybe I learned a bit. This site and the people like Paradocs and others are just amazing people.

Just keep after  it, and keep learning.

I have been at this for quite and still learn new stuff all the time.

Remember, always try to improve. If you ever think you are good enough, that is the day you will cease to improve!

A second bow already, ha you have been bit by the bug. Enjoy the disease. A bow that fits you well does help accuracy but ultimately it is the operator that is most important. Listen to Bisch.

yeh a deal I can't pass up!! I will keep the Samick Sage as a back up and something I can use to experiment with as well. It's actually quite a tough bow for 139$.. Im having loads of fun. Im not getting discouraged at all. I told myself when I started that it was going to be one of the most difficult things I have ever tried to do. But like other things in my life, I set a goal, I commit, I achieve. The goal for this? Enjoy archery in its purest form as a bowhunter.

So are you going to tell us what the new bow is, or are you going to leave us hanging here?

Don't worry, Allen; I'm treatin' him right.  Feel a bit like a dope pusher, though...y'know, give him a little taste, string him along, then set the hook. The Super Ghost needs a good home, though; great shooting bow. You're the one he needs protection from; he'll be trading bows every two weeks if you get your hooks into him    :saywhat:
