Title: elm stave
Post by: horsebackhunter on February 06, 2015, 08:07:00 PM
Hey everyone, I'm new to the site, already learned some things. I have a new elm stave drying in the basement. I decrowned it, never done that before, but the tree was only about four inches in diameter and I read you could do that with elm. I started drying it to about four inches of reflex. Its 2" wide, 1" thick, and 72" long. Any design ideas? I hope I didn't take of too much wood already. I was thinking parallel limbs tapering down at the last 4 or 5 inches
to about 5/8" or 1/2" and just build up the handle a little. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

First, welcome! Second Move this over to the bowyers bench you will get really good results over there (not that you won't here) but building bows is all we talk about and It won't get lost a quick.
