It's been awhile, but my resolve collapsed when I shot one of Steve's N.M. Classic's. If I only shot it once, I probably wouldn't have ended up talking specifics of my new Classic with Steve before I left. Steve is doing a sweet modification on his riser that he calls "old school". More radius and a fuzz shorter than usual. I fell in love with it. I'll be going with a 66" 52#@27. Tempered bamboo core with bubinga riser. Dark brown glass on back and a sweet milk chocolate brown on the belly. Now the wait.
Steve's booth was hoppin at the expo.
Glad you got a chance to shoot one. You will love it!
Steve is a great guy and his bows are flawless, great shooting bows!
Your not the only one!! I ordered a new Eros from Gregg Coffey a little 54 inch recurve. Wow that thing was fast and so smooth. Decided on the wait instead of buying the show bow. Went w juniper riser, aromatic cedar veneers and juniper and osage overlays, 51@27
Todweelz, Greg's booth got me too. I shot one of his Elkhearts and then one of the 54" Helms Deep. Both were at the high end of my preferred weight, but that Helms Deep just piled the arrows on top of each other, so Greg is building me one at a little less weight. And I was just window shopping
Wasn't going to stop at his booth but he snagged me walking by and said " Todd, here shoot this its really fast, you will like it " good sales technique at least I tried to just walk by!!
Steve got me too, just got off the phone with him. I order his new Seney bow for youngsters and women. 62" 35# for my now 16 year old baby girl. :)
Those Seney bows seem to be a great deal and I'm sure they will be great shooters. They remind me of the Great Northern Field bow. Steve puts quality into everything he builds.
You guys are just weak! :goldtooth: Easy for me to say I didn't attend K-zoo either.
Oh and Todweelz we'll be expecting a full report after you've had a chance at it.
I did all right on friday night. Did a lot of looking and some shooting. Then on Saturday two bows in particular at Steve's booth got my attention. Both Whisper's. A 64" all ash Whisper and 66" all elm whisper. Well had to see what the difference was between the two. Yep, That 66"er was just special in my hands. It was smoother and more consistant for me. The reverse handle just fit my hand so nice and was a very sweet shooter. Yep, I broke down and it rode shotgun home with me...Steve was trying to talk me into a 2 for 1 special, but his math wasn't adding up. :dunno:
How can you say we're weak? I walked around the show all day long, shot everything that caught my eye and remained a pillar of strength. Greg just blindsided me with that Helms Deep while I was catching my breath.
Sorry you fell prey to his cunning tactics. Someone needs to talk to him about bowyers etiquette!
Man, I'm almost glad I was sick last weekend! Lol. Not really. I'm still bummed that I had to miss the show.
possum, will do ! I can say that I shot 12 arrows and it was so smooth and fast that I bought one ! No stack, no finger pinch, no hand shock and so quick. 10 months is a long wait to get it in a turkey blind or a climbing stand, but will be worth the wait. Until then I will just have to shoot my 56" Tanjavur, guess that's a good problem to have !
