I was just looking around on Bear's website for the first time, and stumbled upon the "Futurewood" section.
They have a picture there of a Takedown riser with what looks like a custom grip with a thumb rest.
Is this an option from the Bear factory? Here's a pic:

Cannot answer your question but that's a good looking riser and not in their catalog that I have seen ;)
cmh, I agree wholeheartedly. I'm patiently waiting for BigJim or someone who deals with Bear Takedown's regularly to chime in...
If this was an option from the factory I'd probably be all over it, but I've never seen one like it.
I've already asked awhile back if they had a custom shop and received a big NO so I'm scratching my head now lol :)
If I'm not mistaken I believe they used to have one, but clearly they can hardly keep up with current orders now let alone do custom ones.
Maybe this is an old custom shop option from back in the day that they just never deleted.
That looks like a nice grip, and not like any I have seen on a bear bow. I have never really loved any bear bow because their grips don't work in my hands.
Sure looks like a new bow to me, but unless they have done something new, I would say that is a fluke....
BigJim
I agree with Big Jim. Maybe something they played with at one time. I have seen a similar rig on another site but not Bear made.
I've seen that riser somewhere. Brandon Stahl maybe?
Who knows, it might even be a tease. After all, you guys are running out of things to talk about :)
bigjim
Well, the thumb rest is also on the wrong side. Now I'm not sure what to think. Maybe I'll call and heckle them a bit til I get an answer :D
Trap is right. He has two on "pass around" right now.
Thanks for the info guys, I just might have to contact Brandon.
That ain't one of Brandon's risers. It is interesting though, can't believe Bear would tease people like that, lol.
Brandon has not put his new creation on website yet. I asked yesterday, he is up to his neck in work said it will be awhile. Email would be best way to find out more.
I had the RH Heritage demo about a month ago :-)
Here's one of Brandon Stahl's Heritage bows. Much Like a Bear TD but the limb attachment looks different.

Man those are pretty...I sent Bear an email demanding answers, now we wait :bigsmyl:
THats just the normal LH A handle, not a custom grip at all. Bear does not make custom grips, period.
The LH and and RH grips are different, because they are made from different masters on the duplicator.
Missaukee, good to know. Thanks for the info. I guess that solves the mystery. Maybe I just need to convert to lefty now...
