Title: longbow hard cases
Post by: Doeslayer_67 on February 01, 2015, 11:26:00 AM
I'm looking for a longbow hard case which is airline approved. I like pelican cases and foam with the cut outs. Thanks

PVC pipe. I shipped 2 bows twice to Colorado for elk hunts in 4" PVE pipe with PVC caps taped on. I opted to ship my bows ahead of time rather than trusting the airlines with them.

PVC or even a ski case.  I see hundreds a week coming thru my airport.the skis are fine.  I would pad the inside with my hunting clothes or foam

Black Widow has a nice one that can be adjusted for length, padded ends and is lockable.

Good luck and God bless,
Rodd

I second the fishing rod extendable case. Works great and is lockable. Light weight as well.   :campfire:

How do the 4in pipe and extendable rod holders work on reflex deflex bows?

I agree.  Works great with my Northern Mist Baraga but not with my Morrison Shawnee.  Fortunately, the Shawnee is a 3-pc so I can take it apart and ship my bow / arrows in an arrow length tube.

Doeslayer, I have limited experience with shipping bows.  I have had two bows shipped to me. One was in a triangular cardboard tube that came through the mail, it arrived in good shape. The last one was shipped in a lightweight pvc tube and that bow arrived in good shape too. The pvc tube was not in so good of shape. There is no way of knowing what happened on its journey.  Both of the bows were also wrapped in bubble wrap. The one that was shipped in the pvc also had a soft bow sock. I think the bubble wrap was responsible for the 2nd bow arriving in good shape!

Oh, both bows were 64" mild R/D longbows.
