Hi Folks,
Would you all give me names of bowyers that make a takedown bow that you can shoot both longbow limbs and recurve limbs on the same riser? Also, I would appreciate your opinions and experiences with the bowyers who make them.
I am aware of the Toelke Lynx, but would like to hear about others.
Thanks!
Stalker Coyote, I have one with longbow limbs and absolutely love it. I have very little experience with South but have heard only good things about dealing with him. Next year I am planning on ordering a set of static recurve limbs.
Toelke Lynx
RER LX=XR
Dryad Orion
Stalker Coyote=Jackal
Morrison Cheyenne/Shawnee
Zipper SXT=Extreme/ Standard
Those are the ones off the top of my head.
Of course you could also consider ILF as well.
Forgot to mention mine has a medium grip that is perfect for me.
Jack Kempf Raven...think Guru could post a few pics if needed.
Anything ILF can use recurve or longbow limbs. Some don't work as well but there are tons of options out there.
Timberghost hybrid. if belly mounted limbs are your flavor.
Rick Welch makes both longbow and recurve limbs for his Dakota. I will warn you, though, that every time I've gotten more than one set of limbs for a riser I end up using one while the other gathers dust in the closet, so I've stopped doing that.
You can switch recurve and longbow limbs on a Bob Lee. I'm not sure if all of their risers will interchange but I put my brother's longbow limbs on my recurve riser and they work great. Beau
Zipper
I can vouch for the RER. I have an LX now and hope to add a set of recurve limbs to it in the future.
Thanks for your replies, so far. Also, I am not interested in ILF or metal risers.
Zipper SXT
Striker also offers both types of limbs for the same riser.
Eaglewing Talon 11 and Steppe Eagle. Both back and belly mounted and with either static recurve or hybrid longbow or double limb sets.
God bless, Steve
RER LXR super complete bow package. Great company and awesome bows. I had this set up.

Habu Vyperkahn!
Yah, the Habu is interchangeable w/ left and right handed bows as is the Zipper
Most of the bows/bowyers I can think of have already been named.
Looks like Mike Mecredy "Maddog Bows" just released a new T/D called the Backpacker that will accept both longbow and recurve limbs.
Firefly T/D by Jim Jones has one of the best feeling grips I've ever felt and is offered in both limbs.
Hill Country Bobcat by Roman Hershberger is another option too.
Belcher, which seems to also be Sky Archery. I really like the riser/grip and longbow limbs. The recurve limbs were part of the package trade- also very nice.
Yes many bowyers offer this feature,I love my Zipper SXT.
High quality bow very quiet and fast.
RER is top notch with the lxr package, excellent to deal with.
Psr bows and hunting from finland. Model "jalopeura" you can get both limbs.
Might want to keep a couple of things in mind in looking for a non -ilf riser that accepts both recurve and longbow limbs. Generally, a riser is designed more for one than the other. Risers designed primary for recurve limbs, for example, often have a larger limb pad angle coming off the bow, creating more reflex coming off the riser.
If optimized for recurve limbs, longbow limbs will lose some of their efficiency by comparison.
Likewise, risers designed mainly for longbow limbs have smaller limb pad angle such that the limbs have less deflex as they're coming off the riser. That pad angle might push recurve limbs too far forward, increasing the pre/early load, and potentially contributing to early stacking.
Then, too, risers designed for recurves are generally wider because recurve limbs are generally wider than longbow limbs. The solution has been to make the longbow limbs wider ( a lot of hybrid limbs are made that way), or conversely, to make the recurve limbs narrower for risers that are initially designed to accept longbow limbs. Visually, some of these combinations can sometimes be less than attractive.
I have a couple of Morrison Shawnees (better suited to longbow than recurve limbs IMO). I prefer the longbow/hybrid limbs, but the recurve limbs look and perform very well on them.
Hill Country Bows K2 I believe is the model, Roman makes a great bow that's reasonably priced.
QuoteI will warn you, though, that every time I've gotten more than one set of limbs for a riser I end up using one while the other gathers dust in the closet, so I've stopped doing that.

Good points to bear in mind!

I like the Morrison 3 PC with his newer Max 1 and Max 2 recurve limbs and the longbow limbs with carbon/foam.The Max limbs are superb IMO.
You get 3 riser length choices with those and multiple limb lengths. So its a very versatile bow with lots of options for different lengths at your draw.Depending on what you want your bows characteristics to have.
I have owned the A and B risers and D and E longbow limbs that work well at my longer draw.
My recurves were 60 and 62 inchers.I usually went for the D limbs and an A riser for hunting.A B riser and D limbs were nice for all around shooting. The B riser will have more mass weight. These were his original recurve limbs and were nice.I tested a friends recurve with the newer MAX 1 limbs and it was very impressive in every way.
you can make a short brush bow or a longer type 3-D bow with all of the options at Morrison Archery.Or something middle of the road for all around utility.
Stickbender, All the Hill Country 3 piece takedown bows can be built to accept both Longbow and Recurve limbs.
Bobcat
Wildcat

The only one I've shot is the Habu. It's top of the line, for sure.
Kajikastik by Whisperstik bows. I picked up a used recurve version recently but they were made with longbow limbs also. I believe the bowyer is taking a break but may be back.
These are The Sasquatch RC & LB limbs and both are designed for the same riser pad angle. This is my original semi static RC deign.
In spring i'll have hybrid long bow limbs available for the Sasquatch SS riser too.

I also have a very unique ILF set up with a G-10/ wood riser that will accommodate both types of limbs. I build these in 17" 19" & 21" lengths.
