If you are going to buy any soon you may want to do it now. Bill called and told me he just ordered some more steel and the vendor raised the price again. He said in 2009 500 pounds of 0.25 steel costs $480, now in 2015 the same steel cost him $1300. Copper brazing prices have also increased. He doesn't like doing this but has no alternative. His profit margin is less today than it was when he began making them.
I'll wait until Sunday evening to post the new prices on his webpage.

That's quite a spike in cost.

Seems like material prices going up is too much of a common trend today... Thanks for letting us all know!

What you save on gas today you can spend on new broadheads ... it all works out :jumper: :jumper:

We ship most of our metal to China for recycling, shred it, process it, haul it to port....
Fairly high cost of letting the EPA and whatnot dictate who can afford to do business..
-
I hate to do it guys but its unavoidable. It looks like the price increase is going to have to be .50 per head.

Still a great deal....

Small price to pay for such a great broadhead

Still a great value on an awesome broadhead.
-
Tremendous value either way. Great heads and great people.
-
I agree. When I first saw this I thought..."dang I better order my broadheads NOW" but since I'm not finished tuning arrows I'm not sure what weight I'm going to end up with. Glad to hear it's not a bigger increase.

That's a crazy price increase on the steel. Crude steel prices today are only about 20% higher than in 2009 which should impact the price you are paying for higher grades, but not to the extent of a 300% price increase I wouldn't think. May want to have a sit down with the supplier and get an explanation if you haven't already.

Either way great heads, & I will continue buying.

Heck .50 per head is a drop in the bucket compared to the prices of other things. With gas running half of what it was a year ago we should have spare change to pick up some heads.

Good steel really has gone up. I used to ignore the cost of steel for my knives since it was so small compared to the labor. Now I have to factor it in.
-
Funny the steel jumped so high, when scrap is very low.

Thanks for understanding. We thought it better to explain the increase here than to just bump the price and see if anyone noticed. I see and hear guys ask why broadhead prices in general have increased so much. This huge increase in the price of steel is just one of the many reasons.
One reason for the premium price is because I can only buy 500#-1000# at a time.I do not have room to store more than that amount in each thickness we use. We have to keep 6 different steel thickness on hand.If I could buy and store a couple of ton per thickness I could get it cheaper. None the less those prices were at 500# weights. One other thing that makes the price so high is the thinner the steel the higher the cost. I also only care to hand 100# rolls which means they cost more. Now add in the large increase in freight price from 2009 to today.

I would talk with your supplier as steel costs are waaaayyy down. U.S. steel is down almost 50% on th stock market. In the last WEEK!

You guys better enjoy the gas prices they are not going to stay there for long.

I do some scrapping on the side to fuel my hobbies. Metal prices are definetly down on the scrap market.
