Title: Bear takedown
Post by: Son of Texas on January 27, 2015, 01:36:00 PM
I have been a longbow shooter for a long time, but I've always had and itch for a Bear takedown. In the past when I've gotten the itch I didn't have the money to buy one, well it finally came together   I got the itch and had enough money. I called Big Jim yesterday and ordered an A riser and #3 limbs 45lbs, now for the wait. I probably be asking a lot of questions when it arrives.   :goldtooth:

I just waited till Big Jim had an A handle stock riser on hand, and then I bought it. No wait that way........

One year, back in the 70s I hunted with a compound, actually two as the first one broke at the handle. The reason I bought the compound was that my Bear takedown broke when my brother drew it back, I still wonder what really happened. I had a free set of limbs from Bear on order, getting impatient I bought a Wing Impact, it cracked and then I got a Wing four wheeler, which broke twice. The last week of the season, I took those new limbs out. I jumped an eight point buck, he slowed down for a second and I shot very quickly. The Deadhead flew through the deer, the deer made two leaps and went down. I had one question. What the hell was I thinking buying a compound?

I thought about doing that, but I was scared someone would talk me into spending my money on something else.
