Hello all, Ive been shooting carbons out of my Mahaska longbow which is #49 at 28in, Im pulling just shy of 29in. I want to switch to woodies, can anyone help by telling what spine should I try?? All the help would be appreciated. Thanks. :help:
I would start with 55-60 if the bow is not center shot and go to 60-65 if it is. That is if you stay around 125 grain heads. Give me a call and we can discuss more if you like. My phone number is on our web site. Thanks Steve
Thank you for the info, I ordered some 55-60 spine today from Three Rivers after ready your response, going to give them a try, If I have problems I will give you a shout Steve, again many thanks!
After sending response I saw your web site great prices, I will be contacting you for my arrows after testing, Again many thanks!! IS want to go all traditional if that's what its called, I love shooting this longbow and I think its fitting to shoot wood arrows. Lol
If your bow is not cut to center I would go with under spined. You should be about 50, 51 pounds of pull. I would try a test kit with 45/50, 50/55.
What spine carbons are you shooting. Good luck.
Forgot to add don't forget when you cut your shafts to leave one inch longer for your taper.

Hey Whittier, I'm shooting 5575 goldtips at 30in, they fly like darts
That's with a 125 field point.
Floyd, if you're really going with wood arrows, Surewoods are a mighty reliable source, as many folks here have expressed in many threads. maybe watch your shaft weights to get where you want 'em. Steve will totally help you out with that.
IS will be giving him a call soon, Ive been shooting a long time, I'm just a bow shooter an hunter, I'm not a technical kinda guy if you know what I mean lol. Lots of great guys on this site, I know someone would point me in the right direction. :deadhorse:
