Title: william's 1st with recurve
Post by: Don Batten on October 03, 2007, 01:39:00 PM
My son will, has finally killed his first deer with a recurve. He turned 17 2 weeks ago. He went out sunday on his on, and found a place that they were comming out of a cutover and crossing a small creek to feed on the acorns on the ridge. He put up his stand( the first time solo) and came back to the house. Yesterday when he came in from school, he took a quick shower and went to the stand. At 6:15 he shot this nice little buck at about 18 yards. the arrow entered high between the last 2 ribs, cutting through the liver, and blew out the opposite shoulder, taking out the offside lung. he heard him crash about 30 yards from the stand. We found the arrow about 10 yards in and the deer another 25 to 30. Any of you who know will, know that he is generally a quite kid, but he was not last night. At least I know he can scout and put up a good stand with out my help anymore. I think I'll let him hang my stands from no on.   By the way, blackwidow 48@27, cx100 full length, 175 razorcap.

We found the arrow close to the stand.

Here's where the deer ran out of gas.
