Here is several trail camera pics of a decent buck thats hanging around one of my stands. What doe you figure he will score?
let's see...main beam length, points, girth...oh wait their both big enough for me to shoot. :knothead:
Hes going to have a pretty good gross score. Net he is going to have quite a few deductions.. I am not that good at this but I would guess somewhere between 132 and 140.
162.5
Brent
PS There are no deductions least in my book!
Shootable that what he scores. Half a freezer full of meat and tanned hide for projects and a European mount in the shop. Not to mention the campfire story and the years of memories.
P&Y 152 after deductions.
Brent,
He has lots of little buddies. I have over fifteen different bucks on the same trail camerea so far. This guy is the biggest by far but there is a real nice 8 and 10 pointer hanging around also. I will probably never see this guy in hunting hours but it sure is neat just knowing he is out there.
I know this guy will lose lots in the deductions dept but I figured he would gross upper 150's. No matter what he scores if he presents a shot I'll be taking it.

Yeah, I'd say he scores good enuf for my wall... But then again, since a #125 is REAL BIG in my neck of the woods... that boy is a certifiable monster... sure there are a few spots that have real nice deer in these parts, the price and pressure go up expotentially as well.... :scared:
Slasher,
I am very fortunate around here to have little or no competition as far as hunters go. This guy is five minutes from my house and in a no firearms discharge area. On average a mature buck of four years or older will be 275#+ in our area. The heaviest one to date for me was 325# live weight.
Could you please convince him to swim the river my way?
130-140 net typical.
BOBW,
He has no passport and the Homeland Security Department won't let him in!
Argh! :banghead:

Well, I have a passport and the last time I checked I didn't have any Canadian warants.... :D
I'd say whatever he scores, that be a real fine deer with a stickbow bro.

What doe will he score? I'd say any one he wants :D
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Stan
I think you're probably about right on the gross. Net will be quite a bit lower with the common base on the left G2 and the lack of a G4 on the right.
But if it were me I would want him just the way he is - he's perfect! Now just go kill him!
I agree with slayer 1 and jason
Here's my WAG...155
good main beam length 21-22"
16-17" inside spread
G1's - 7-8"
G2's - 9-10".
the 3rd tine on the left is going to be a non typical since it protrudes from a common base as best i can tell about 8".
G3's - 7-8 & 5-6"
G4 left might get an inch. needs to be to score.
H1 - H4's 5-3.5 total approx 34"
giving him max on all these puts him at 153" gross
now if you want to know if he is a shooter, depends on lot's of things. where i hunt, Yep!. he has a nice fat pot belly and an aged face with thick neck. probably a 3 1/2 year old. i don't know if i could pass him up if'n he were to give me a shot.
I don't think he will quite go that high. Probably 138 or so... Hard to judge a picture.
He's missing his G4 on the right side, I'd pass and wait for a BIG one.
Yeah....right. :biglaugh:
Nice buck Dave. Maybe you should let Gray have this one and you go after his daddy! :bigsmyl:
2016 :) At least that's what I shoot.
I figured 158" before deductions.
Enough!
I agree with Big Ron. Hard to judge from a photos like these and I tend to guess conservatively anyway, so I think high 130's to low 140's gross...
I sent the photos to a friend of mine who is an official scorer, and here are his comments.
"OK, nice buck. Real nice on the first initial look, but............. I figure he is about 155 gross. Unfortunately the rack has a few booboos.... that the left G2 and what would be the G3 share a common base, Bingo, there goes points, and there is no G4 on the right side rack. Final net score, about 145 B&C. Maybe a 'skoosh more. I wouldn't hesitate as my best whitetail scores just under 130. There is more growth potential in this buck as I don't think his rack has met it's full potential for girth."
I think Slayer 1 is right on the money.Hunt It, just killem and will know for sure. :bigsmyl:
I say high 150's , low 160's gross but he would not net real well, but who cares, he is a shooter for sure. score means little to me except to give an idea to someone so they can visualize the deer in their head. shawn
Not much mass lots of duductions my guess 125 to 130tops net
He loses at least 20"s in deductions, so mid 130's. Shawn
Is he big to you? Thats all that matters. He has horns with a lot of character, and they look unusal,he`s a shooter. If score matters just ground score him when you get him and let us know.
After deducts, I don't think he will make it, but I'm not real good at scoring in the field. I've shot a couple that I thought for sure would squeek in but didn't. Like others have said, however, he is a shooter.
Louis
I would say mid 140's or so.
It's still way to hot here to think about hunting yet. I'll hang a few stands this weekend and work on him. God willing and lots of luck maybe I can tell you all exactly what he scores. It really dosen't matter to me what he'll score, unless he comes by with a bigger buck he's a shooter in my books anyday. He is welcome to hang around my house anyday.
Doubling the small side then subracting deductions makes me think no more than 120" net.
I hope you get your chance at him. Looks like he's probably a "ghost", since all of those pictures are nighttime.
I'd say he goes about 65-85 lbs of butchered meat. Real tasty looking too. Oh yeah, he has a nice looking rack too.
mabye 100-150 >>>>>>----------->
I would say he scores big with many Does if he doesn't get a stick in him first but if someone does get him I would say his rack goes 156 and 3/4 inch + or - 1/8th . God Bless ! Keefers <")))><
i have measured a lot of deer for both P&Y and B&C and i would say his net score will be in the mid to upper 130's.
one thing you can do is use known measurements to figure out lengths. on average a bucks ear from the base to tip will be approx. 7". the width between eyes (outer edge)6". from the base of the antler to the tip of the nose approx. 9".
Hard to see all in the pics. My guess, nets in the lower 130's.
Put me in the lower 130s group too.
This is one of those bucks where the scoring system fails and doesn't give it justice as to the caliber of buck it really is due. The problem is the imbalance between the two sides.
For folks not familiar with the scoring, this buck gets scored as an eight and a very asymetrical eight at that - hence the lower score. So you not only lose tines for inches, you lose to symmetry too. A double penalty more or less.
