Hey guys, I am playing around with some gt velocity 5/16 shafts. I have been shooting arrow dynamics prior. In the past my AD sets have always been quite different from my parallel sets but this time they are close. They both have high FOC in the 28-30 range and are pretty much the same weight exactly. The ADs hit 6-8" higher. Would this just be due to the arrow sitting higher on my rest from the larger diameter? Should l just learn the new setup or should I move the knock around to make it shoot the way I'm used to?
Now that I am thinking of this I could use a good tutorial on the effect knock height has on everything.
You nock set position is maybe a bit low on the string, do you check the feather clearance with you differents arrows ?
What do the bare shafts do?
I haven't spent any real time 'tuning' these new shafts yet. I only bought 2 to try. I have one fletched and one bare. I have been shooting both of those and one fletched AD trad lite as my measuring stick because I know they fly great. As far as I can tell so far from just playing around is that the new GT's fly great. The bare shafts hit about 6" left or right (cant remember) of the fletched ones but they both consistently hit low of the AD. I was hoping to use the AD set for stumping arrows so ideally I would love to get them to hit together, but I never thought about the difference in OD making that hard. Maybe it's not possible?
Oh, and PS I didn't use powder or anything, but I dont think I have any feather contact. They seem to fly beautiful and I turned the nock to try different feather positions and didn't notice any difference.
Would you guys expect a large and skinny shaft to shoot together or would they always be at a different elevation?
My AD lites need a slightly higher nock point then my GT velocites and I do bareshaft both, I assume its due to the larger diameter on the tip and smaller diameter on the nock on AD's.
If the GT fletched a bare shaft are 6" apart on left/right you are not close to tune. And if your shooting with a cant to the bow spine and nock point can be off.
