Title: Lone Wolf Alpha Tech F-1
Post by: TGbow on January 14, 2015, 11:55:00 AM
I would like to hear some opinions from those that have this stand. I'm considering this stand for next season.
Thanks

I don't have experience with their new stand but have sat in a few of their others.

Lone Wolf makes a well built lightweight stand.

However in the past few years I have been trying to sit in the stand much longer, and with that being said I went out in search of comfort.

If you are looking for comfort, I don't think that Lone Wolf will be what you are looking for. If you are looking for a lightweight stand for carrying in and out it is.

This year I absolutely fell in love with the Millennium M150. It is very very comfortable. One of the easiest stands I have ever used in terms of hang-ability, and has a very large platform. The seat reminds me of sitting in nice patio furniture, and I really like the fact that you can  fold and keep the seat up with the attached bungee
cord as I hate having to fight with a stand seat falling down when I am trying to stand for a while.

Sorry if this isn't what you were looking for, but I have been meaning to share my love of this stand with the gang.

Thanks for the feedback. I think the Millenium from what I've read is probably the most comfortable. I just dont care for that much seat in the back.
The LW Alpha tech is light weight and within my price range, just curious about the overall qualities.

Gotcha!

I believe you will  defiantly find the quality to be there!

Haven't tried the Alpha Tech, but do have a few Alphas and an Assault. I find them quite comfortable for all day sits.  Alpha tech seat looks bigger/softer. Should be even more kind to the back side.

I was kinda curious about the mesh platform, if there's a noise issue. I noticed Muddy stands appear to be mesh so I guess it's probably not an issue.

I bought an Alpha Tech early this month from the auction site.  It is a made in China stand, but seems quite well built.  Haven't hung and sat it yet.  The platform is welded, not cast, but seems like it will be quiet.  I've seen another stand with the same platform grating but thinner wall tube that seemed very "dingy".

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds good.

The "Tech" model is a welded version of the alpha which makes it IMO not any better than any other quality loc-on.

You may want to check out the XOP stands. They are basically a Lone Wolf  design (cast vs. welded) now that the LW patents are expired.

Funny you mentioned XOP, I was just looking at those stands. They look great!

I would pay the extra $ for the regular Alpha/Assault or a Chippewa or watch for a used one to come up since you have till next season. I just like American made when I can get it.

I followed the same path as TradBowSC.  I Have 8 plus Lone wolf alpha stands (not F1) along with a sit and climb and just love them. They were all I used for years and they are dead quiet in all temps.  The older I get the harder it is for me to stay in the LW Alphas for extended periods of time due to their seat style.  I now have 4 Millennium M100U (the smaller version of the M150) for their shear comfort staying on stand long periods time.  They are super light weight and come with a nice backpack strap build in. The LW have 2 straps that secure them really well to the tree, which I like. I add a strap at the lower part of the Millennium stands for added security.  I do not know what the noise factor is on the Millenniums when the temps really drop. I cannot imagine they are better then LW.

I have an Alpha and 3 Alpha Assaults and have used a lot of other stands... in your shoes, I'd pay the extra 40 bucks for an Assault.  I don't think you'll be sorry.

Thanks everybody for the feedback. I use to use climbers a little till I sold them 8 years ago. My brother gave me an API Grand Slam, so now I want to get a hang on. Between the 2 stands and natural ground blinds I'm set.
