I am ignorant when it comes to the whole "string thing" for a recurve. I would like to put an new string on and have a back-up ready for my Shafer Silvertip. It appears the industry has made it a little confusing as to what type of string to get.
It is a take-down, 60", 47# at 29". I draw 30".
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is your Silvertip a FF model? If so, a 56" string will give you right at a 7 3/4" brace height.
If your bow is a non-FF model, you will need a 55" string.

Bob,
PM Allen, (A.S.) above he will get you set up with exactly what you need.
-
I'll second Taters suggestion and say just contact Allen , he has probably made hundreds of Silvertip strings(that's just on his own bows) he will know exactly what you need and does a great job.

I resemble that remark Greg :biglaugh:
Thanks for the kind words guys!
-
I like Dave's remark, but think he's made most of them for my Schafer's.
-
Bill, between you and Tim, you must have a lifetime supply of my strings for those lovely Silvertips! :archer:
-
Don't forget me Allen :bigsmyl: I have a few from you for my Silvertips. Only strings I use anymore.
-
I like Allen string too, long time customer here, but I prefere a brace of 7-1/4 or max 7-1/2 as on Dave's instructions so you need a 56-1/4" string for your ff bow probably 56" for Dacron.
-
Allen who?
We wouldn't think of using any of our bows without his strings. Well, mostly. :D
(And yes, Jennifer shoots her 60" Schafer with Allen's string.)
-
Allen made me my strings, and I am very happy with them.

Thanks for the input. I will get in touch with Allen....he seems like a pretty popular guy!
By the way, I'm still trying to figure out if my Silvertip is ff compatible....how do you tell?
-
Bob, it should have FF in the serial# if it's FF compatible. Give me a shout any time Bob, I will get you fixed up.
Danny, Felix, and Dave....I could never forget you and all those beautiful Silvertips!!
-
Allen, I sent you a pm.
