Hey gang, thought I would share my wife and I's first time out stumpin. After seeing everybody posting their stump adventures, I thought it was high time we did he same. My wife's family owns roughly 80 acres of woods about an hour south of us, and since we both had the day off and the weather was nice, we couldn't think of anything better to do. While we were in the car I told her that we were going to be taking several pictures as I needed to show my internet friends what I did that day. She just gave me that look that pretty much said, "you spend too much time on that darn forum". But once we got out there she did a complete 180 and was taking photos and shooting arrows faster than I thought possible. Seriously I could hardly keep up, she would shoot one log, pull her arrow, see another and let loose after the next log. It was like chasing a dog that could throw its own ball. So onto the pictures.
Heres about the only picture I could get of her before she was off chasing arrows.

My first shot. Had to stop and take a few glamour photos of my 1971 Bear Super Kodiak.

Here is a photo of a log we both shot at roughly 20 yards. I was really impressed with how well she shot.

When we crested the hill we came up to our favorite spot. It is on top of the hill and is covered in large rocks and a very plush, green moss. Again had to take some glamour shots and show off the work Jim at Centaur Archery did to my bow.
(http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g221/Deucali0n/IMG_2555_zpsad04f3f5.jpg) (http://s57.photobucket.com/user/Deucali0n/media/IMG_2555_zpsad04f3f5.jpg.html) (http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g221/Deucali0n/IMG_2556_zps33efd859.jpg) (http://s57.photobucket.com/user/Deucali0n/media/IMG_2556_zps33efd859.jpg.html)
Up on top of this hill is my new favorite log to shoot. It is still standing but the way the bark has fallen off it reminds me of shooting the standing bear 3D target. It is only the trunk of the tree that is left and it stands roughly 7 feet.
(http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g221/Deucali0n/IMG_2562_zpsee9529ce.jpg) (http://s57.photobucket.com/user/Deucali0n/media/IMG_2562_zpsee9529ce.jpg.html) (http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g221/Deucali0n/IMG_2564_zps4a7f1e43.jpg) (http://s57.photobucket.com/user/Deucali0n/media/IMG_2564_zps4a7f1e43.jpg.html)
Here are a few more pictures as I exceeded the maximum. This was another target we shot a few times.

And to round off our adventure we found a great tree to shoot through. The tree forks at the bottom and standing on the up hill side you can shoot through it at a big standing stump roughly 35-40 yards away on the down hill slope. Very tricky as there are multiple small branches in the way. I actually hit a few inches from where I was aiming in this photo. More luck than anything but a fun shot none the less.

Looks like you and the wife shared a great day together Alex! I love what Jim did with your bow, he does a great job with those grips!
:clapper: :clapper: Nice, very nice!
Great pictures! Looks like a fun time!
Very nice rover. Looks like a great time.
Looks like a great time was had by all!
Thanks for taking us along! :clapper:
Looks like a blast!
You better hope she doesn't read that line about "A dog throwing its own ball" or you'll be sleeping in the dog house... :biglaugh:
Hey guys, glad you enjoyed the pictures. Tater it's actually not that far south. It's near Steelville and is right on the Huzzah River. Great place to go floating and camping.
Ya hopefully she doesn't read that dog part as the dog house is a cold, hard sleep. :)
great stuff, love that super Kodiak
Looks like an awesome day!
I can't stop looking at that stippled grip on the Kodiak though..my gosh is that pretty. Who did that?
That looks like a fun day in the woods!
Bisch
Hey Alex, I had the grip redone by Jim Neaves at Centaur Archery. He lowered the shelf, stippled, and shaped the grip to fit my hand better. Also refinished the entire bow to give it a flat non gloss finish. I couldn't be happier with his work. If you're looking to get work done give him a call, he's a great guy to talk to and is very reasonable on his prices.
Nice looking property and obviously a good time. Glad you found the joy of stumping.
You are a lucky dog. Your own land, and a bow-shotin' wife.
Stumping is the best way to "waste" your time!
Good day afield there for sure!
Awesome pictures!
One of the better things in life.
Sounds like a great time in the woods! Just seeing that timber makes me want to go for a hike with my bow. Thanks for sharing your stumping and pictures with us! :clapper:
Bernie
Alex, let me get this straight, pretty wife who stumps with you, pretty bow, pretty 80acres to use...well life is pretty sweet! Thanks for taking us with you, I love these posts. You give Monkeyball some good competition!
Question, that was a '71 bear that you had tricked out? Looks simply great, love the idea of having a piece of history & spiffing it up! Never knew that could be done! A little bit of both old and new...
Hey Frank, ya we have it pretty good. We have been blessed beyond measure. It has been a rather hectic year for us, but these little outings really help us to see what is most important in life as it is easy to get bogged down in the everyday grind. Ya ole Monkeyball has some great photos as well, I really enjoyed his last post.
As for the bow, you hit the nail on the head. I bought it from fellow forum member Whip who had already rounded the tips. I figured since it is such a beautiful bow and it is my daily shooter she could use a touch up after 40+ years. I understand keeping some old bows in original condition, but this old girl was begging to be redone and used.
It looks like you had about as good of a day as it gets. I really like what you had done on your bow, it looks to be a real shooter.

Alex, very good post, opens up a world of possibilities for old bows which are sound and just need a little spa treatment! Keep doin what you and your Lady are doin and you will have a wonderful life.
Great post Alex. Really nice woods and some real nice photos.
Nothing beats stump shooting as far as I am concerned, lots of shooting and no cost.
It is really nice when you can take your wife along also, our season is over here on Saturday. I plan on getting some stump shooting in with my wife, she has a new Toelke Whip to get use to.
Keep on stumpin buddy! Good Shooting,
Craig
And a very pretty wife! No offense. Glad to see you two enjoying the outdoors together. Congratulations!
Great Photos Alex, Looks like a great way to spend the day!
I remember some great times stumping with friends.
