Title: New to Colorado
Post by: ARCHER11 on January 05, 2015, 12:29:00 PM
Hey guys! I recently moved to Castle Rock, CO from Utah and would love to connect with some fellow bowhunters for some winter 3D, stump shooting, and rabbit hunting. Any forum members out my way?

My younger brother "FormerLifeShooter" (Alex) just moved to Denver (Aurora).  He's 27, just out of the Navy, a solid dude.  He's in the same boat.  He's already met up with the fellas from RMS Gear and talked to a couple other folks, I'm sure he'd love to get together sometime, Castle Rock prolly aint too too far is it?  PM him if you like.

Welcome to Colorful Colorado! Yes you will need to check out Rocky Mountain Specialty Gear.  www.rmsgear.com (http://www.rmsgear.com)  Watch for open shoots at Golden High Country Archers and there are also some shoots at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs as well as others. There is a Colorado page on this site but it's usually pretty much a ghost town over there. The Colorado Traditional Archers Society banquet is next month and they hold a big three day shoot up in the mountain's every year that is fantastic!  www.colotradarchers.com (http://www.colotradarchers.com)

The CTAS Banquet is comings up Feb 7th.  The CTAS Rabbit hunt is next weekend up in Rangely, always a good time. Definitely plan for the CTAS High Country shoot June 26, 27, 28.  All info is on the CTAS (  http://colotradarchers.com  ) website. Hope to meet you at one of the events.

Thanks for the warm welcomes! I checked out RMSgear one of my first weekends here. Awesome store! I talked with Tommy for a good while. Some great folks up there. I have the High Country shoot on the Calendar and am definitely planning on attending. Cant wait for June! I've heard a lot of good things about the traditional archery community here in CO and i'm looking forward to getting to know some fellow bowhunters. I may have  to go to the CTAS Banquet. Sounds like that would be a good opportunity to meet some people. Thanks for the heads up on that. I also saw the details for the rabbit hunt. That sounds like a blast but I don't think i'll be able to make it out there. Are there any rabbit hunts out here a little closer?

Just head up the hill to the national Forest and look around willow thickets and you might find some snowshoe rabbits, might need some snowshoes yourself though with all the snow up there now.
I managed to get three one weekend before heavy snow set in.

I'm right over here in Parker.  A stones throw from Parshal, as well.
