so I was in a Traditional archery store and while there a customer comes in and asks for a shooting glove, the owner says he doesn't have much because Martin no longer makes them and Berlin is out of business. there was another maker but its hit or miss so he was trying to find a good supplier of quality shooting gloves.
I thought Martin made my favorite deer skin shooting glove but I guess not and whoever was making them for martin the quality including big differences in sizes went so far downhill martin recently said goodbye and they are looking for a good supplier too,,, I could have this twisted around a bit but its pretty accurate on how I hear it.
can anyone comment on this,, if this is true for the basic deer skin shooting gloves who has a good quality stuff with sizes that match it might be a good time to stock up!
Ted, I think Grizzly still makes them and they are of good quality.
I haven't used one but Kustom King sells a deer skin glove.
RMSG sells some very good gloves that have a similar feel to the Martins.
I use the bear paw glove from Kustom King. It works very well for me. I bought an extra because I like it so much.
Just got a bigshot crossover and like it a lot although it is thicker than a deerskin glove. Was shooting a tab or duraglove. Bigshot has outstanding finger protection and a super slick release.
I'd be looking at Kustom King and/or RMSG.
In fact, I DO look at those gloves a lot. So far I have a Damascus, a deerskin "classic" (my first glove, think it was Kustom King's), and an American Leathers Full Shot.
Each are different - I mostly shoot the Damascus (just a bit thin though) for best feel, and the Full Shot for comfort and a bit more protection. I removed the fingertip pad insert in the Full Shot, which gives me more "feel", with plenty of protection.
Back to the deerskin: I think one of the Bearpaw's would be an excellent balance of qualities.
Just noticed Big Jim has a deerskin glove that looks like it might be just about right. Also read very favorable review here of the kangaroo skin glove he carries, too.
If I were looking at one of those two, I would lean twords the kangaroo glove...just personal opinion.

I really like my Bearpaw gloves as well. Good slick release and hold up reasonably well. I used to shoot the superglove but they quit making them and the bearpaw, while it doesn't offer as much protection, does let you feel the string a bit more
Big Jim's deer skin glove
Big shot slick shot is my favorite......by American Leathers
I have been shooting with American Leathers since they started, they are better than ever now. My wife always went with cheaper and lighter Damascus styles that shriveled up. I bought her a Bigshot, she took her first shot with it said "Oh, my that's nice." and then chewed me out for letting get cheap stuff. She will let people touch her bow, but do not ever touch her shooting glove.
Does the Big Shot allow for a deep hook?
You can get them like my Buffalo with the extra long finger stalls, you just need to tell them what you need.
Thanks pavan
I like E.W. Bateman's gloves. Probably have about 10 years on the current one and that's shooting 60-70 arrow practice rounds about 3 or 4 times a week.
Bearpaw is our #1 seller then Damascus then Duraglove followed by Bigshot Bateman Cordovan then Neet.Main thing it has gotta fit right.Along with Bear.

I use Black Widow's deer skin glove.... Full palm, and I REALLY like it.

Rodd
Also check the gloves on the Black Widow website.

Jim, thanks for the opinion. Why do you suggest the Kangaroo glove over the Deerskin?
Thanks!
