I'm wanting a longbow built out of osage with bamboo backed limbs. Are there any builders located in Texas that can be recommened.
Thanks
My first pick of late would be Sarrels Archery!
Take one Sarrels Blueridge SR 3pc longbow and call me in the morning. It will cure what ails you :D
If 3pc is not your flavor Bob builds several other models. He builds shooters.

Dryad Bows also builds super shooters. I believe they still do custom 1pc bows along with their 3pc offerings.

David Oakes near San Antonio, 210-394-0290.
I've shot bows from Bob and Zach Sarrels, Ron Foley and Bob Lee, and they all are fantastic. I've never shot a Dryad, but I plan on changing that in April at the Hill Country shootout. Mike's bows look as good as any. I don't think you could pick a bad one out of the whole bunch! You should probably buy one from all of them!
Bob at Sarrels Archery does make a bamboo backed ipe bow. He also makes a fabric backed hickory bow. All wood and no glass in those models. Sarrels Archery is in the Austin area.
I believe Lonnie Dye would be who you need to contact for bamboo backed osage, all wood bow. Lonnie is in the DFW area.
For a straight up selfbow, you won't find any better than those made by Arvin Weaver. Arvin is in the Austin area.

Roland Jenkins in Huntsville makes an outstanding bow. The grip on his longbow is very comfortable; I've been thinking for a while about getting in touch with him myself. His number used to be 713-582-5827, let me know if that doesn't work for you.
Here's an old thread about one of Roland's bows, even has Osage in the riser!

Obviously Bob and Zach are a good choice...but when your "From...says North Texas"...you may be closer or as close to Flanagan in OK...and I'd recommend them too...
Thanks for all the contacts it looks like many choices before me.
Lot of great bow builders in Texas
Dryad x2.Excellent bows.
Don't forget Roy Hall. He has been doing it for a long time and has a good reputation.
Lonnie Dye for bamboo backed osage. He has a web site.
Lonnie Dye x3  Arvin Weaver Also ! :clapper:
I'll second Roy Hall in Henderson. I know he's been building bows since the 90's, not many out there can say that.

Another for Roy Hall (Navajo Bows) really nice guy and builds some nice bows.
