I recently posted a Binocular Recommendation post. Switching gears a bit and wanted to see if anyone out there Has experience with this monocular or others. Pro, cons, etc. My hunting buddy raves about his but I have not used it. And will not be seeing him for a while to give it a test drive. A the lead sentence suggests I was originally in the market for a good pair of binoculars. Upon purchasing Leupolds 6x30s I'm concerned about the size and weight. Bigger then I thought.
Again I'm a hard woods southern zone NY hunter looking to pick apart some dense woods and thickets. Maybe a few fields mixed in.
So let's hear what you got boys!

Pete, I recieved the 8x25 for Christmas. Seems well made and very clear. Made in USA. Trying to keep my pack weight down. It is very compact as well.
I own that exact monocular and it does have very good glass but I still have to use both hands to adjust focus so it kinda defeats the purpose of using it IMO. I've found my pair of Nikon travelites work about as good as anything and weigh about the same plus it only takes one hand to focus:dunno: Hope this helps!

a monocular is very tiring for long periods of 'looking'
Agree w/ Ray, also I always had problems w/ my eyes refocusing right after use but I would close my opposite eye.
I have a Vortex Solo. I like the size and volume but it has not good quality glasses, not clear and brighty. With excellent weather and a sunny day all works well but use it at dawn or dusk and the monocular will show the lack of quality of the glasses.
And Yes, is very tiring for long, and short, periods of time. Maybe it can be used for treestand hunting but one pocket binocular is a better option.
Actually is used for my sons, 6 and 3 years old, as they loved it, very simple to use and focus. I have several products from Vortex but this one is very limited.

I have the 8x32 monocular. They take some getting used to. They don't come up easy at first but after a day of using it it gets easy and quick.
I love the monocular for roving or when I am walking around to or from stands. It is lighter and quick to get to you eye. (No adjusting) But if you are going to just be on sit for long I would go with a pair of bino's.
I use a 8x30 Brunton monocular and love it for my style of hunting. I am a lefty and place the monocular in my left top chest pocket and can use it with just the one hand. I adjust it to something far away and it is in focus from that position on in.The more you use one the better you become with it. I live in the mid-west where distances are really not that far. When I hunt out west I use a bino in a higher power.
I used the 10x Vortex monocular and love it but it does take some getting used too! Harder to pick out stuff sometimes because of the much narrower field of view, but it fits in my pocket, works well for eye glasses wearers too. I tried a set of the small variable binoculars from Bushnell and they were great without glasses but didn't work with glasses for me. They are all I carry hunting the mountains and the plains here in Colorado but I have a full size set of Nikon binoculars I carry for scouting.
