Title: Glove Noise-Help
Post by: Huntrdfk@Work on October 02, 2007, 09:51:00 AM
I'm sure there is a simple solution to this, I just don't know it yet, sooooo......just as I reach full draw, the gloved portion on my index finger squeaks as it rubs against the nock of the arrow......it does it with damascus gloves and with my grizzly glove also.....last year it cost me a shot at 4 yards.....how do I fix this without any smelly oils......anyone????

Thanks,

David

I use string wax on my glove when this happens to me. I shoot with a Martin leather glove. I have also used the Hunters Specialties talc powder. Both items work but I thing the string wax works the best.

Yes, string wax works wonders.

I put some type of leather dressing on mine....like mink oil.

More worried about the critters smelling me than the natural oils....cause if they've smelled my glove, then they definately smelled me.

I was thinking you could get a small piece of felt tape and put it on the glove there.  Mine did it last night I need to get it fixed and was wondering the same.

Is this happening with a tie on nock or crimp nock?

On My Glove and finger Tabs I use SNO-SEAL, it is a Bees wax Base and also waterproofs the Leather, In fact I use this on all my Bow strings instead of string Wax. It is soft and very pliable and soaks into the string really great. I hope this info helps you all....ONE SHOT...  :)    :)    :)

Dave it is with a tie on nock......

Thanks for the input everyone, I like the SNO-SEAL idea, will try that first and go from there, have to fix this as it is driving me crazy....

I switched to crimp nock points last year so thats whats was on my string when it happened.  don't think its the nock, its the leather rubbing either on itself or on the plastic arrow nocks.

I also noticed that my leather belt was doing the same thing as I moved.  can't blame that on anything but poor eating habits  :)

I'll try the pitch blend tonight.

Hats off as usual to the tradgangers !

Short term I will try a little string wax. Long term I will probably try some Montana Pitch Blend as Brother JC said. The real reason I will use it is that it will give me and excuse to buy more from 3 Rivers ! Been needin an excuse to get up an order anyway, haha !!!

I had the same problem with my glove, on plastic and self nocks. I put a furniture paste wax on the glove and nocks and it took care of the problem. No to mention the smoother release from the wax. The smell of the wax after rubbing it off was minimal and nothing in a day or two.

I use a little shot of my bottled wind detector powder. I always have one in my pocket anyway.....
