I've heard it said "arrows are just for shootin',
no need for decoration, variety of color, stuff
of colored up feathers or fur".
Then why is it God Blesses us with sunrise and sunsets in all their glory, making something in our hearts stir?
I guess we could live without such things and we'd be just okay;
But to have in your quiver and shoot such shafts adorned brings to the woods a similar beauty---so embrace it on this day!
Shape them, paint them, and glue feathers to the shafts of your choice;
I guess aluminum and carbon are better than none, but if you listen to my voice-
It just seems natural to choose quality arrow wood which had grown in the hills nearby;
There's something special about wood arrows and feathers and how they fly!

I dont even shoot wood but everything you said makes perfect sense. Certainly nothing more pleasing to look at than a quiver full of a well built set. You do great work and I will never be closed to the idea of shooting them. I have a bud that shoots wood and they are something to watch as they are launched at a target.
That's awesome!
I bet TG's resident poet, TW (Wannabe1), would be proud of you!
It would be better with pics of said beautiful wood arrows though!

:thumbsup: Nice David !
You got that right, David. I do shoot carbons, especially with a newly acquired bow when I am learning to shoot it. But there is something about wood arrows that keep me coming back to them for my favorite bows. When you get the right spine and the right color combinations they are tough to beat - and nothing looks better to my eye.
Very well penned David! I like that a lot. :thumbsup: :clapper:

There is nothing like a quiver full of hand crafted wooden arrows to go with a beautiful custom wood bow..... :thumbsup:
"So long as the new moon returns in heaven, a bent beautiful bow, 'shooting beautiful handcrafted wooden arrows' , long will the fascination of archery keep hold of the hearts of men."
My twist on Mr. Thompson's beautiful words. Nothing screams traditional archery like beautiful crowned and crested wooden arrows and natural barred turkey feathers.
:thumbsup:
Those are truly beautiful sticks!

Some fine looking arrows there!
At times I feel arrows are like ammo... Can't have enough, no matter what they are... Then I look at works of art, like you posted pics of above and say to myself, these arrows have a soul and need to be treasured and used with respect...
... mike ...
Very nice Snag! Those are almost as pretty as the ones you crafted for me LOL.
Snag, I can't wait to break my arrows so I can get a dz. of your....simply works of art.
Amen...nothing flies like wood shafts, especially at longer ranges! Wood is good, it's all I shoot! :thumbsup:
I agree I don't like shooting deer with ugly arrows...... :)
Beautiful arrows, wish I needed some, but I probably have a lifetime supply already.
The more I look the more I am gonna have to get some wood shafts and give it a try. :thumbsup:

Nothing like a back quiver with some good looking wood arrows in it.

Very nice Arrows!!
Could not agree more!
I may shoot pretty plain wood arrows but that does not mean I cannot appreciate great handcrafted arrows when I see them...those take my breath away

Nice arrows!
I shoot nothing but woodies. I used to make my own arrows as well as bows, but being a bi-vo pastor I find very little time to hunt much less make any of my own stuff these days. I have a couple dozen Snag made up for me last year. They are beautiful. For those who have never shot a good heavy wood shaft you have never experienced absolute quiet arrow launching.
Very nice!
I find it much more satisfying going into the woods with arrows that have some of me built into them. I make my own woodies.

And I stump shoot and small game hunt with the same arrows I deer hunt and target shoot with.

Never understood the logic of using crummy arrows for bunny hunting. I want to hit the bunny - not mess around. These are all tapered from 11/32" to 5/16" at the nock.
My bowhunting mentor chastized me for using a "bunny" arrow at a 3-D shoot for a small target behind rocks. He said: "Use your best arrow and your focus will be sharper. If you use a crummy arrow that means you expect a crummy result". Or something close to that.
My much missed 6 foot, 280 pound Yoda.

Great looking arrows and poem. Thanks
.
Well I do not get very artsy with my arrows, they are a nice color and I am insanely fussy when I build them. Even with which feathers go with a set, some feather are flimsy and some are tougher, I do not mix them into a set. I do like to admire the fancy work of others though. Even broken a cedar arrow has it own beauty. I shattered one at a shoot, a high nerve close to the trees shot. We waited to let the guys behind us shoot, before the arrow search began. One commented while he was looking for his carbons, how my arrow broke. I gave him a piece and said "smell it". After the shoot he was walking around looking at the vendor tables, still sniffing that chunk and offering a sniff to others.
