Post by: Nathan Killen on December 25, 2014, 06:44:00 PM
What aftermarket limbs will fit the buffalo riser ? Border hex ? I've got the fever for a Buffalo with static tip limbs !

Maybe Dryad ilf limbs would work.

Nope!  I don't think anyone is making the limbs to fit the Buffalo with static tips.

Border offers the Hex series with the Hoyt Formula connection like on the Buffalo.  There's actually a set for sale on TTalk for a super deal right now.  Uukha (French archery company) also makes some outstanding hi-po carbon limbs and sells matching Formula limb adapters for their limbs as well.  There is a good chance you could use the Uukha Formula adapters on other ILF limbs, it would be worth the homework.

The Uukha adapters won't work on most competitors limbs but they do make a hunting limb called HX10. I'm looking for a set for my Tiburon. Their construction is supposed to make them immune from limb twist and delamination. So if you can swallow using French limbs they offer a hunter features beyond speed no other maker can.

I'me taking orders for static tip ILF limbs now. Same limb design as the Sasquatch SS.... but... I would  need your riser for fitting. That's a pretty wild looking riser.

Kirk,

the Buffalo is not ILF.

Kirk,
Hoyt went AWOL a while back and started doing their own proprietary 'version' of ILF called Hoyt Formula.  The idea basically the same but they made the limb butts and spacing between the groove and pivot bushin a lot longer.
It looks like a stretched out ILF.  The funny part is they still make regular old ILF limbs, but offer the Formula system in parallel.  They used it on the Buffalo, Tiburon, and their highest spec Oly' limbs.

I still can't believe that with the demand for aftermarket Formula limbs only 3 aftermarket options exist. Sky used to make them but will not any longer leaving Border, MK Korea, and Uukha. People like the formula risers and they aren't going away.

Ok Chuck... So are the ILF buttons on the limbs the same as a standard ILF limb?  If so i'd just need a riser or a limb to duplicate it.... I'm always game to try something different. Those are some cool looking rigs there...

While I've not personally owned or shot one of your bows Kirk, I tip my hat to you for being open and willing to go out of your way to keep your customers happy! That is service without question!   :wavey:

To my knowledge the buttons are the same (but you should double check with Hoyt) but the dimensions of the butt are just longer, so like I said more distance between the button and the groove at the end.  Google image search Hoyt Formula connection and you'll be able to see some pics.  I think Hoyt's schematic for it with the standardized measurements might even be online somewhere.  Find an Oly' shooter/ field archery club nearby or a Buffalo owner and get your hands on a limb to check it out.

Yes, lots of shooters are pissed at Hoyt and think they missed the boat by making the Buffalo to only accept its proprietary Formula fitting and not ILF, but it's all about the Benjamins.  Personally, I wouldn't shut folks out from buying my riser because they might slap a set of Borders on them!

Same argument as the Bear take down system. There are a few after market limbs on the market but not many so you're stuck with Bear limbs or a couple others. I see no difference.

after ordering a new covert hunter from border in October I had a long chat with sid about hunting & he asked what I shoot , which is a 55# buffalo with standard hoyt limbs .
then I said I was thinking about getting the hoyt formula limbs & sid said they { border } make the hex6 limb to fit the buff , & with the wood core they are cheaper than hoyt's own limbs ....no brainer    :knothead:  they should be here mid jan along with my covert hunter
