Expectations may run high and even rampant for new bows that feed our traditional thirst.
The bows of today far exceed my needs, yet anticipation and desires to read of, see and experience remain firmly entrenched within my love of the traditional.
The gestation period for my newest bow is projected to come to a close in January. She is to fulfill an undesirable void in my field arsenal. Am finding myself more often in tight quarters and lost two prime shot opportunities this season, which could have been easily been executed with a bow merely a few inches shorter. She is a well- designed variant of the 56" TimberGhost sculpted by Kent Roberts.
Anticipation is running high for the unveiling of several masterpieces.
May our gifted and dedicated bowyers birth more creations-of-dreams in 2015.
New bows ROCK!!!!!!

I just added a new Cari-Bow Tuktu EX to my arsenal at the end of 2014...I shoot that bow at 30 inches and 60 pounds and I have ended up shooting Full Metal Jacket Dangerous Game 250 spine full length with 250 grain field point...I only made up one bareshaft test arrow to shoot at about 15 feet in my basement...I was going to put some fletching on it this morning but decided not to bother...I doubt very much the fletching would improve the flight one bit...I like my 600 grain range hunting arrows but I guess there is really nothing wrong with a 900 grain arrow either...sure does make a bow quiet

Mine came a few days before 2015 ( so technically it is not a 2015 bow as I told my wife... :D )
Border black Douglas 64" HEX6.5 W in medium winter time poundage : 58# at my draw. I asked for a 1/8" positive tiller that gives me a quiet bow and a much better shooting.
Nothing fancy ( shedua/ bubinga riser and raw limbs) but that thing is devoted to be a killing machine like his heavier following twin

I bought three new bows in 2014 - I think I need a local support group for 2015.
The traditional way sustains the kid within us.
Scott, I can't wait to shoot it when it arrives.
New Cari-Bow featherhorn coming my way sometime in spring 2015. Tick, tock, tick, tock...
I have a Tall Tines Hybrid coming in Feb. that I am pumped about!
That's great Scott, I also have a TGhost due very soon. What are the specs on yours?
I'm sort of in the market for a new bow. I'm evaluating a couple of options. I'm hoping to make it to Kazoo to shoot some of them.
currently am waiting for my first 2015 bow expected to arrive by March. T'is a whippenstick longbow technically the 1st custom bow I ever ordered. Having high hopes that it be a sweet shooter :D
I have not bought a bow in a year and a half. I think if I get on a 1 year waiting list I can brag about not buying for over 2 years.
Jim called, I am up on the Centaur list!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait
Also have a Whippenstick longbow coming early 2015 :bigsmyl:
TimberGhost Static...56"s...52@28
All phenolic riser with stippling
Bocote limb veneers
Sounds nice, perhaps some accents of bacote in the riser would really set it off? :-) can't wait to see it.
Ordered a Silvertip last month...11 month wait time, so I may get to hunt with it next fall. Maccasar Ebony riser, koa limbs, rough sheep overlays. 58" 57#@28. Going to be a long wait...
I'm really thinking I need to get back on Gregg Coffey's list for another Elkheart....everybody needs a backup...!!
new tip for me too :jumper:
should be ready in july
waiting suks
Same old Bear A Riser but new Rose Oak limbs coming March. Anxious to try them.
my new bow money went to the taxidermist! i guess thats not a bad thing! should be saved up for a new bear in time for spring turkey!
60" Timberghost 3pce longbow, carbon back, myrtle veneer belly from Idaho Curt, still have to discuss riser wood.
Halve 2015 I hope...
I gotta have a Bear Super Kodiak based on the
67 1/2. Have not seen one yet [dont think there are any but the prototype] but they look exceptional on the website.
If I we're to order a new bow next year it would be a 54" Black Widow PCH
Does getting a bow back you sold count? Everybody get's stupid sometimes.
TimberGhost Static and a TG Apparition as well. A Tall Tines a bit lighter then I normally shoot to use when bundled up and in the snow..it'll either get dipped in snow camo or painted white by yours truly. Maybe another TT but unsure if I have room for more??
I have a DALE DYE that is due any day !!!! might not be a 1015 bow but a end of the year 14 bow.
I'm on the centaur list for early spring. This will be my first custom bow and my first longbow.
Just picked up a beautiful set of PSAX limbs in birdseye maple on this site and ordered a new riser from the boys in Nixa. Riser choice is pau ferro, no red glass. Bamboo accent stripes and a strip of birdseye maple to match the limb veneers. Bow will be 60" 52# @ 28". Riser should arrive the third week in Jan.
Having recently returned to trad archry after a few years using training wheels, I seem to have come down with what I thought to be a serious disease. That being a desire for "another" stickbow. Was beginning to question my sanity but after reading all the posts on this topic, I realize it's a perfectly acceptable hobby. Thanks guys.
Hummingbird Kingfisher
Timberghost
Border Black Douglas
Roy Hall Apache
Kempf Kwyk Styk
Kittatinny Archery Shadwood
"Let's go boys, we're burning daylight!" John Wayne
I bought two new Black Widow PLX longbows over the past few months. For 2015 I will probably by a another Black Widow PLX take down with spliced veneers and copperhead skins.
Ron
Congrats and I am with you on the short bows for hunting. I have used 58"ers for years just for that reason.
Also my favorite bowyer has a new limb design coming out. He sent prototype pics the other day and has been tormenting me with these things.
Zipper Nitro
Have a Dye Medicine Point coming, Hope it is a 2015 model, might be a 16!
Offical Kick-off Day for the anticpated bows of 2015.
Expect many dreams to be fulfilled...
Don't forget to let us know how you like your new stable mate.
Hoping to make another Self bow this year, you haven't lived till you have made your own and hunted with it.
Getting a new tip around August, not sure I'll have it in time to hunt but am looking forward to getting it for sure!
I have a Whippenstick Phoenix coming in April.
Looking for a BW PSA, but none are for sale in my specs! Seriuously contemplating a Kwyk Styk based on all the commentary. Would like a Tall Tines or Stalker as well.
LongStick64, I agree. I'm working on a yew longbow now. Hope it comes in between 55-60 lbs.
I see a Centaur Triple Carbon in my future.
David
I just bought a set of 62" limbs for my Bob Lee Ultimate (thanks RW). These should be around 41#@26" which will be my lightest set of limbs/bow. These are to have on hand in case I need to drop 7-10 pounds for a bit.
Now I have 56, 60, and 62" for this 17" riser.
I'm expecting to receive a call from Habu in the next 2-3 months.
I will have a Toelke Whip HS delivered in the next couple of days. Am on the waiting list for a Vintage Works '59 Hybrid...
Got a new Tip, on order one piece recurve w double carbon, checkered grip, koa limbs and smooth overlay on riser. Only 6 loooong months to wait. Perhaps my last bow except I do want a 60's or 70's bear next!
My timberghost 56" static tip should be under construction very soon!!!! Kent told me my name was up on the list a couple weeks ago.
Going to be Cocobolo and phenolic with copperhead skins and a deer track carved into the grip.
I can't wait to get after some turkeys this spring.
Jake
Well, even though I got it last month, I still have not shot it since I am waiting on some limbs for it. 13" VPA Vapor with long limbs to make a 58" bow.

Great news! I own a 3-pce Phoenix and it is one of the best shooting bows I ever owned! Say hello to Ken from me, when you meet him!
I am on JD Berry's list for a new Taipan this year.
Just bought the Caribow Tuktu in bocote at 50#. Should be here this week, I'm so excited. Never shot a custom bow before but a little research and the craftmanship made the decision for me to pull the trigger. I'm sure I will have a treasure. Now if there were more people to shoot with here near Pahrump.
Haven't bought a bow in 2 years & I getting the shakes,2 piece Centaur Triple Carbon in my future.
I 'm going to try a two-piece Toelke Whip.

A new Wes Wallace Mentor coming my way next month! Can't wait to get it.

The finish is firming up on my new John Schulz longbows. Hopefully the waiting period will not be much longer.
I just picked up a morrison 15" xd riser. Should be here by the end of the week
I just received my new 7 Lakes Carolina Night longbow from Mike Ballinger. 68", 59@28, actionboo core with bubinga and spalted maple spliced veneers (from Troy Breeding) under clear glass with a bubinga riser and bubinga tip overlays, it has about 3/4" of reflex. Just a stunning bow that shoots like a dream-very mild mannered, well behaved, and strong shooting. Yes, I did open my present early, or maybe late-my birthday was Dec. 16, I opened it Dec. 22, only a little before Christmas-almost 2015.

Ain't nothin like new bow season
I put my name on the list for a Big Jim creation almost 2 months ago so hope to have a bow in hand late spring or early summer. This will be my first custom and only my second traditional bow. Leaning towards a 58" Thunderchild in 53-54 lbs range @ 29. Get exited just thinking about it.
Dryad has revealed a new bait of which I couldn't resist.
I have taken the plunge on a set of Dryad ACS LBX limbs.
I'm with Stagetek, another set of Rose Oak limbs may be in my future.
Just ordered a Border Covert Hunter HEX-7 this morning. Still working out the details. Right now it's 64" 48# @ 29-1/2"
My Bodnik slick stick should be here any day now! 58" 45#@28...I can't wait to get this bow and do a full review! New bear supergrizz is now on the back burner!
I have a Bigfoot Sasquatch on its way to me. Kirk has done a beautiful job as usual. Can't wait to shoot it!
Hey Bill,
Is Kirk using the Maple Burl for that riser.
He make one hell of a sweet bow. I'll have to keep an eye out for you shooting it this summer.
If you get it soon enough there will be alot of trad guys at the cabin fever shoot in San Fran. on the 18th.
Hey Pete,,
I'm not sure what maple Kirk used but he said it was rare and he only had enough for maybe two bows?
Is the shoot this month? If so I'm going to miss it. I'm going fly fishing in the Amazon for peacock bass. :)
An other shoots coming up? Hope to make it to one in NorCal soon.
Bill
wow!! that is one sweeeeeet lookin riser!!
your a lucky man
You'll have to ask him but if it's the maple I thinking of it started as a choping block on his wood pile. He milled it and came up with some beatiul wood. I have a bow made of it that's looks similar to yours.
Yep, the San Fran thing is this month. Personally is much rather be on your trip. Sounds like a blast .
That looks like super Exhibition Grade Claro Walnut to me. Absolutely some of the nicest wood I have ever laid eyes on. I believe it is some of the same I got from Bill Tenneson who cut the tree out of his Cherry orchard in Northern Oregon.
God bless, /Steve
Thanks for the kind words Steve and carbonflyr!
Kirk said it looks better in person than the pics he sent.
Not sure how much better it can get.
I initially had other woods in mind but Kirk said he had this real nice piece if walnut that he thought would turn out real nice. I'm so glad I went with his recommendation! :)
Bill
Bill that is a sharp bow! Peacock bass!?!? Good luck I'd love to do that!
Darron
Darron,
It has been on my mind for several years. I finally worked up nerve to ask my wife and surprisingly she said yes!
I was shocked but quickly recovered and contacted the guy setting up the trip.
There's about 12 guys coming from all over to meet in Brazil for this trip. Its gonna be a true adventure!
That sounds like an awesome time!
You guys have no idea how much trouble you rain down on me with a thread like this. All the talk of new bows, especially with pictures, brings out my basic weakness. Now you have me thinking about something new. Like Friend, I have plenty of bows, which more than meet my needs. Yet, it is very easy to convince myself that another one is absolutely necessary. Man, I do like threads like this!
I am pretty certain that I do not need a new bow. I will not be buying a bamboo Schulz it turns out. I will be buying a new limited edition Hill and just may be buying some hunting land.

Of course you need a new bow! We owe it to ourselves and work hard right!? Least that's what I tell my wife! Haha
Got a call from Treadway last week. He's getting started on glueing up my bow. Carbon back with sassafras belly, cocobolo riser. Shooting for 45@31 and 64". He said he should have it ready for delivery at the State shoot here in March...
"Pure Michigan" Straight grip Two Tracks Longwalker coming the end of the month, actually I'll pick it up in Kzoo.
Many dreams have already been fulfilled this year and clearly see more wonderful treasures moving toward fruition.
My own special TimberGhoat's build starts this weekend.
Now entering the 3rd trimester of the birth of a special TimberGhost.

I just got these bows at the end of 2014,so I still consider them new for 2015. They are both Big Jim's Buffalos.

This last picture does not do either one of these bows justice. I don't know what's wrong with my camera, but both of these bows are gorgeous in person.
Jim builds a beautiful bow. Congrats.
I caved, Should be seeing a bow sometime sooner rather than later.
Friend,
Kent is building a special timberghost for me as well. I will do my best to say it like you would.
My anticipation is only abated by the desire for a bow of truely astronomic individuality and craftsmanship.
Jake
Rainy Day 62" Recurve, Gray actionwood with bamboolimbs and black glass on the way...can't wait anymore :archer2:
My highly anticipated birth of a special TimberGhost is currently dilated 10 centimeters.
Good on ya scott.!!!
I have gotten a new JD Berry vixen, a Mcbroom ASL, and now a Bear 59 kodiak due to arrive later this week
Charlie, :scared: what do you have coming your way?
Brian...the Vixen is beautiful.
My computer is down and I have not figured out how I can post photo's from my phone.
It's the pits because I took possession of a beautiful Liberty Classic from Allen Boice. What a great guy to deal with as well. Longest bow I have ever owned at 68".
For some reason, I'd like to be able to shoot a long bow decently some day and I think this bow may be the one.
Brown glass on the front and yew make a very pleasing bow to the eye!
I have a new TallTines recurve thats in the last stages! My first ever custom.
62" short riser long limb. 58# @ 28
Chechen riser w/bocote flair. Checkered grip
myrtle limbs with deer antler tips
antler burr limb bolts
It will be wearing a Lynx by Thunderhorn with muley inscribed quiver hood, throwing VPA or Grizzly tipped Easton Axis traditional shafts.
Cant wait!!!!!!
Friend, I saw some "raw" pix of your bow...beauty!!
Guru...Thank you!...Mr. Roberts is quite masterful while presenting the most honorable pleasure to work with.
Too bad she won't have an opportunity to reek havoc on some piggies later this week.
Actually, I am not disappointed. Her mission is to target my favorite game...gobs...gobs...gobs
I have a Wes Wallace 3 piece Stealth on order. It will have the purpleheart racing stripe in the riser. Ordered with Boo limbs and Black glass. 60 'er 50@ 27" draw. It should be here by June or July.
Friend, I may well have seen some pics of your new stick as well. Kent sent me some to look at as well as some questions for my own build. Very nice!!! Kent is a master. It looks like Tradgang will be flooded with some new timberghost threads very soon.
Jake
I have a new 7 Lakes coming at the end of February
Before the Habu call could come I rescued a Blacktail T2 Sitka from going on the "Inventory" pile.
It is:
56"
LH
45.5@26"
Wenge & Curly Maple
Wenge and Koa limb veneer/splices
Shoots my 414 grain "Test" arrow 170 FPS.

Oh Roy that is a beeeeaaauutty!!
Gorgeous Blacktail...congrats!
That Blacktail is nice
My Border Covert Hunter 62" 47.5# just came in last week. I am still weeping at its beauty. A phenomenal year it has already been.
TheYak...please share a pic?
I too have succumbed, once again, to the lure of a new bow. Just called Alan at Blacktail and ordered a Columbian longbow, 62" and 44# @28. Bolivian rosewood riser footed with colored myrtle and colored myrtle limbs, no footing. Will arrive, hopefully, in six months. August at the earliest and October the latest. What the hell! I could probably break a heroin addiction, if I had one, easier than the "new bow" affliction by which I am currently controlled. You like those Wes Wallaces, don't you Tom. They are nice.

I'm thinking about a Tree Stick from Acadian.
My last custom was supposed to be my LAST custom, it is a Dryad Orion which my son quickly laid claim to - and I'm glad to see him enjoy it!
So... I am hoping to sell a bow which is too heavy for my aging shoulder to help finance a new Dryad Orion for myself. I am looking forward to having a set of Dryads for my son & myself. Good stuff...
Ordered a new wild horse creep condor on the 21st of February now comes the wait.
My centaur is suppose to ship out tomorrow !
Got a new widow being built. 60'' PSA in cross grain graybark. 59#@30".
Some mighty fine bows are turning up.
I put a Javaman Helms Deep on order at the Kalamazoo Trad Expo this year. I'm hoping to have it in time for deer season.
I was getting totally wrapped around the axle trying to decide what veneers to order with the cocobolo and phenolic riser. Finally decided to block it from my mind entirely and shoot what I have to stay busy. When my bow comes up on the build list, I will pick one of the 20 or so combos I have in mind and live happily ever after with it ('till the next one, of course).
I drove over to Manchaca Texas yesterday and got a Sarrels Blueridge. Bob and his son Zach are two of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. This bow is smoking fast, and not bad to look at either.

Javaman Elkheart.....will be here by the end of the week ! :bigsmyl:
Just put together a warf -- Bear Black Bear compound riser w/ aluminum conversion plates and a set of 55 @ 28 TT Medium Carbon / Wood limbs. I have some work to do to get it quieted down a bit ..but it shoots lights out. So far that's my 2015 installment!
Here is my new bow I built for 2015. I have shot it in our league a few weeks and really like it.
Cant wait for out door 3D and then the fall.

Cyclic Rivers...Merely rumors, I most certainly hope not.
Perhaps your subtle display of excitement is substantiated by a verified account
Friend, I spoke with the bowyer. I'm just trying to create a buffer in my head just in case there is the inevitable unexpected delays of being a business man and Family Man.
also, Perhaps you saw my materials when you walked through the workshop last week ;) ;)
Nothing better than having a bow in the making...Charlie I envy you! :campfire: :archer:
F-Manny
Manny, you know how to fix that problem....
Sometimes the anticipation is the best part but I think in this case, I am wrong.

Great looking bow!!
I love mine TG static recurve.
Wife just ordered me a real Manchu static recurve. Pics when it gets in. Ordered me half a dozen leopardwood shafts for it too.

Wow! By chance is it by James Parker @ Huntworthy Productions? I was thinking of giving those leopardwood shafts a shot (the grain structure is sick!) but something doesn't seem right if I shot those off of a modern ILF rig...
That's a beauty Friend!
No, mine is a fiberglass reproduction from a traditional bowyer in China. Made sense to get it from where they're from originally. My next Manchu I'm gonna build myself.
The shafts are 36" Manchu taper, drilled for tanged heads and 23/64ths diameter. Got them from Forrester, he knows the tapers for all of the Asian styles. Arrowheads are from Flagella Dei, hand forged. They're my next skill to learn.
My Zipper Nitro came in the mail yesterday and it is everything I was hoping for.
I bought a riser Bill had in stock and was on the list for him to build me a set of 58" limbs but in one of my many phone calls to Bill I found out he had a set of 60" 51# @28 carbon and foam limbs in stock which was perfect for me and I couldn't take it any longer so I grabbed them.
I also want to add all the good things you read about dealing with Bill are true he is a real pleasure to do business with.
Have a new Big River being started in a few weeks.
Shot indoors with Scott Wednesday. His new TG is not only a beautiful bow, but he shot it very well. Watch out turkeys!!!
Yes it's a sickness lol. Bow #2 this yr is a titan 2 with centaur longs.
I hear ya nontypical I just got my new Zipper and have a River Runner from Chad Holm coming soon but don't tell my wife.
Jason,
I think you at least owe us pictures of your new Nitro !!! :D
Bill
Bill, if it ever stops raining here tomorrow I'll get some pics of it but will probably have to send them to you to post them for me.
I ordered a Black & White Ebony PLX longbow from Black Widow with their new African Black wood spliced limb veneers. Now the wait...

It's Going to be a nice one!
I just received a call the other night that a new Thunderchild will be born.
This Brotherchild, Thunderchild will be a special bow to me. It will be my constant reminder of good Friends, even after I ditch them for mid-western Greener pastures.
