Title: Pole dramas with DB blinds, anybody?
Post by: Benny Nganabbarru on October 01, 2007, 05:19:00 PM
G'day! I just got a DB Matrix blind. So far, we've set it up five times. The poles are showing signs of wear and tear already, just under the ball-joint where they go into that metal housing. I thought these things were bomb-proof. Can anyone give comment or advice regarding this? I did a search, and found mention of after-market carbon poles, but not much information other than their cost; would these be more durable?

Thanks, Ben

Hello Ben,
Not only are the carbon poles more durable, they lighten the load a little too. Not much, but enough to count if you pack the blind very far. I had pole breakage on a Double Bull Matrix after only 5 set ups, but DB replaced them free with no questions asked. I noticed wear on a couple of the new poles at the same place you mention. Instead of waiting on them to break, I went ahead and took the plunge and replaced them with the carbon poles. Have not noticed any wear after around 15 set ups. Money well spent in my opinion.

Thanks lads. It sounds like those carbons might be the go, and it also sounds like their service is all it's reputed to be - top notch! I'll get in touch with them. Cheers, Ben

I broke one of mine, but I was pushing the sides out wrong.  They repaced it no questions, and I went back and watched the video and figured out what I was doing wrong and haven't had a problem since.

There have been some pole problems with the later DB Matrix blinds. My cousin bought one and the poles broke on first setup. Cabelas replaced the blind. Like everything else these days it seems, the blinds are now made overseas. DB does have good service, but it is still agravating.
