Title: Staying warm below zero F
Post by: Jock Whisky on December 16, 2014, 10:39:00 PM
I've had several hunts where the temp was between 0F and -25F. I could hold out for an hour and a bit but by then I was too cold to shoot.  I've got excellent snow packs and don't have cold feet, a good balaclava to keep my head warm and keep my hands in my handwarmer pockets until I need to shoot. So my main concern is keeping my core warm without bulking up to the point that it interferes with my shooting.

What do others do beside run for camp and a hot rum when the mercury falls out the bottom of the thermometer.

I've heard good things about the body heater suits, kind of like a snuggy on steroids. You kind of shrug it off to shoot, has silent magnetic fasteners to keep it draped over you.

If not a Body Heater suit (and maybe with it) you need a kidney belt to hold hand warmers.

Gord you are from Canada and don't own the Heater Body Suit?! It is by far the best piece of clothing/equipment I have bought in the last 5 yrs!

Check into a iwom hunting suit. I think it will fit the bill .
