Title: Ground stand seats
Post by: Biggamefish on December 12, 2014, 07:17:00 AM
Ok i went through the archives and looked at a ton of seat that were mentioned.  I finally settled on the millinum treestand seat.  Ordered a couple for Christmas present and the are out of stock and doen't look like they are getting them in any time soon.

Now to my question I am looking for a quality seat for around 80 dollars or less that is light weight and durable and comfortable.  Throw me some ideas please!!!

I have two I like. For long sits I prefer my Summit Trophy chair, very comfortable, even has arm rests.

For light weight, easy to pack and set-up, I take my Hammock seat. It is comfortable, not quite as stable as the Trophy chair but a lot less cumbersome to pack to distant hunting spots.

I finally went and looked at and sat in a Double Bull chair, the magnum, I think.  I found it very comfortable and think it would do very well, even though it doesn't swivel.  It's about 49 dollars at Bass Pro.

Check treeline treestands. They have a seat called the Stump.

Good Gosh, the "stump" weighs 14 pounds according to their website. My Summit weighs 6 pounds and the Hammock seat weighs a little over a pound.

Woodsey Too Lil Sit is my favorite ground blind chair. I have not found a more comfortable chair.

I'll second the Double Bull Magnum.  It is well built, comfortable and if you shop around, reasonably priced.  Mine gets a lot of use and I can sit in it all day.

I bought a swivel seat from Sportsman's Guide for less than $50.  It weighs 11 pounds, but is quiet and comfortable, even has a back-can be set up anywhere, don't need a tree.

I also use the double bull magnum.

For the price you are talking I would get the double bull mag. Comfy chair.

I have tried many ground seats and the one that works the best for me is still the 6 gallon plastic pail and a soft backpack.

Yep  . I was going to say that to. A spackle bucket. You can put stuff in it. Make one into a backpack  and its cheep.

This is one if my favorites. Took an old boat seat that still had the swivel and attached it to a 5 gallon bucket. It's comfortable, cheep and more stable than I thought it would be. I've sat for up to 5 hrs without a problem.   (http://i324.photobucket.com/albums/k359/crittergetter76/Mobile%20Uploads/2014-10/E0FCE597-F89F-47E1-BF78-33E127ECE520_zpsj3f0cv22.jpg) (http://s324.photobucket.com/user/crittergetter76/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2014-10/E0FCE597-F89F-47E1-BF78-33E127ECE520_zpsj3f0cv22.jpg.html)

How are you going to be using it ? I have a BigGame treeseat that hangs on a tree like a hang-on stand . It has about 2 1/2 " of cushion and swivels . it can be set at any height you want and it helps you use the tree as a backdrop . I usually tuck it into some brushy spot and it works as well as any . It also allows you to move and set up quickly . Of course it wouldn't work in a blind .

I recently purchased the Millenium tree seat and so far I like it. Sets up quick and easy, and is real comfy.

For all day sit's I like the Huntmore. Can't beat the adjustable legs and swivel seat. For shorter sit's, I'll use my DB Magnum.

That smart seat looks comfortable but looks like you would have to find the perfect spot to put it up.

Every time one of these threads come up, I always recommend the  Walkstool. It doesn't have a backrest but is the most comfortable stool out there. You can get one in any height you want and they weigh LESS than 2 pounds. They are nearly indestructible as they are pictured with 4 of them under each wheel of an automobile.

For the money you want to spend($80) it will be hard to beat the Double Bull Magnum. The Huntsmore and the Waldrop Pac seat are great but more expensive.

The one thing to remember about hunting on the ground you need to be concealed. Aside from being in a popup or building a natural ground blind your concealment will in part be having your back against a large tree or brush. Some of the chairs that have been suggested will leave you farther out from the tree you will pick for cover that will mean from a side view you will be picked out easier by a deer. That being said I myself am leaning towards the Big Jim ground hunter seat and the torges seat.

Save your money and order the Millennium G100 ground blind chair. It is the most comfortable, light weight, easy to set up chair on the market, and it swivels too. I have the G300 which attaches to a tree and also the G100 with the three adjustable legs. Both are equally comfortable, but one needs a tree and it doesn't swivel. Still, it's a great chair if you have a tree in the correct spot.

The G100 attached to the military molle frame makes carrying a dream. You will actually look forward to sitting in this chair during your hunts. It's fast to setup, light weight, super comfortable,(which is one of the most important things a chair should have}, and it swivels. Plus, you don't need a pack mule to carry it into the woods!

I believe the G100 is the cream of the crop and nothing comes close. Don't waste your money on anything less. Try one and you'll agree.

Wow lots of options I want to look into here. I have been using a black bucked that i set oon a rubber floor mat. Butt it up to a tree and the tree becomes a backrest and concealment. Have a pad i sit on. I want something light less bulky i can pack in and out. A bucket is loud when it taps brush walking in the woods

I read about the Shappell swivel seat here, used it about 6x, and love it.  Light, durable, and adjustable.  quiet too. I'm sure there are others too.

I think about 70$ shipped. Has a back and all. Good seat.

I did go through sportsmans guide to order those seats and they say they are in stock then when you order they ship from the dealer direct and they are currently out of stock.  They say they won't ship until 12-26-14 just for a heads up.  There are alot of seats to look at here.  Thanks for all the help.
