Ok, first things first. We just got in a pallet of blems...several different patterns including lots of woodgrain. We also received black and white nuge and pink and white nuge. We still have camo shafts too, and received some really cool skullworks shafts. All sizes in wood grain, and several different sizes in the other patterns. A great deal to go with our free shipping special.
GOLD TIP NEWS!!: If you are currently shooting the Gold tip 7595s (300 spine), there are going to be changes.
All gold tip 7595's with a wrap or pattern on them have been .300 spine and the black shafts were .340 spine. As of the first of the year, all new shafts are supposed to be marked with the actual spine numbers, ie. 600, 500, 400, and 340 wood grain. Yes, you read that right, the shaft formerly known as 7595 will no longer be available in a .300 for the wood grain. The stiffest woodgrain will now be a 340 spine. The 7595 or .300 spine in the other patterns won't change so if you need the stiffer spine you will still be able to get it just not in wood grain.
I am happy about this even though I shoot the .300 spine, but they just weren't big sellers and I think the 340's will go a long way. Unfortunately they are not available yet. Thanks, bigjim
60 dz shafts in each box and there were 22 boxes ...I think..ah, who's counting.
Well, I tried to post the picture...just not enough smarts to do it. I sent a picture to my buddy Manny though and he knows his way around posting a picture. :goldtooth:

:D
Thanks Florida LIme. one day I'm going to have to learn to post pictures.

Holy crow!
Wow! Hey Jim do you have the skull works shafts posted to the site yet?
I can see the picture already :)
Thanks anyway many. I'm sure you would have come through for me had Florida lime not already done so.
The skullworks and some of the pink shafts apparently did not get posted on our site yet. We have had some internet difficulties at the office. They should be on the site tomorrow. We have the skullworks in 5575 and just a few in the 7595's.
thanks, bigjim
Big Jim, Will the gpi of the 340 wood grains being going down also?
thanks, Joe D
JDunlap...I can only speculate on that as I haven't seen the specs. I've only been privy to the initial info. I have been suggesting both the 340 change and the change of the name from there original confusing name to the spine name for years.
They seem to be listening or at least watching. After coming up with the 600 spine arrow, they improved the 3555/500 spine arrow by making it 32"s...but that is all old news.
thanks, bigjim
yippee, ive been waiting for blems. 3 dz 3355 ordered.
i feel like a kid at christmas. thanks jim
Heck, I feel like a kid at Christmas too! I have sold a tremendous amount of shafs/arrows this year ...for that, I have to give a big thanks to the tradgang members and their word of mouth. However, I have received a relative few of those in wood grain.
This time, the spine sizes are fairly evenly distributed. I wouldn't wait too long though as we sold over a 100dz last night.
Thanks, BIgjim
Well, those 340s should work well for next year! I shot the 300s for years out of a 70 pound set up but now that I've dropped to 60 pounds the 340s are perfect
This is a cool thread to read. I've made and shot wood arrows for so many years I have no idea what any of you are talking about! It just sounds good.
You know, it is not that tough, but it is different. With wood and aluminum, you shaft choices that can be fairly specific. There is one for every 5lbs for wood and maybe even more than that for aluminum.
For carbon however, any one model will seldom have more than 4.. With those four spine groups and cutting (if necessary) to tune...and then fine tuning with tip weight, we can get one to work for most everybody.
Yes, it can take some big points or weighted inserts to get them to weight, but that is an advantage we have in being able to put that weight up front. Front weight adds better flight characteristics.
Just a different game is all.
thanks ,bigjim
Whew, what a day! All good though. I think I'm going to have to go pig hunting tomorrow to get a breather. Someone's got to do it. Them durn things are taking over the place!
Got the specs on the skullworks, but I'm having a hard time believing them so I will confirm tomorrow.
Oh and they said I was getting a couple hundred doz more blems...mostly woodgrain, but the pink nugents are on the way too. I thought I had already gotten them but again I was confused. :knothead:
thanks, bigjim
Pig hunting is always a good idea, Jim. Take em out.
Yeah pdk25, I've been thinking about it all week. My son and I are going this afternoon and then hunt in to the dark. Got some blems that need to find their way through a few piggies.
Bow lights are awesome, but they still seem to out think me...at times.
We will spend the night at camp and hunt the morning followed by some stand tweaking and adding.
BigJims
Ttt from tree..no pigs yet, but I think our date was scheduled for dark thirty.
BigJim
TTT from the living room , you should have two in the bag by now yes?
TTT missed a nanny doe...matrix BS. They are sharp late. Nose as long as a funeral in January...
Ordered 2 dozen. Down to 2 arrows :saywhat:
Don't you hate that matrix crap. I had one do that in Kansas this year.
No Drew, they didn't listen to the script. I think they heard I was planning on doing some blem shaft and broadhead testing on them.
My son and I spent most of the day inproving the pig set ups. We added a couple new locations and multiple ground blinds for less cooperative winds or pigs.
It was a nice day.
bigJim
Jim that's where you went wrong , ya don't go as a shaft and broadhead tester ya go as a bird watcher :bigsmyl: they will never see it comming
The only birds I watch are the tasty ones...then I wan't to shoot them...I'm smart enough to bring a shotgun for that though. :)
bigjim
That is awesome news! I shoot full length 7595s, and I had to go to the black ones instead of the Trads because of the spine difference. Jim, do you expect to get wood grain blems at .340 spine in the future too?
Johnnyk, I expect that I will one day. but even in the 340, these will be one of the lesser requested shafts. Just not that many people shooting enough weight to even use the 340.
When they have them, I will get them. In the mean time, as soon as they are available, I will have some non blems in stock.
Thanks, bigjim

Awesome, thanks!
I'm still trying to find out the specs on the 340 but they aren't available yet so I guess there's time.
bigjim
you guys that shoot these I'm wondering about 29" BOP 3555 for a mild R/D longbow (Green Mtn Classic)that shoots 53@27 I have points here from 125 to 300gr like to set this bow up with a couple doz dedicated arrows.
Tajue17, I think that you would be close on that set up. Probably going to like 200+ grain points for total arrow weight...but "might" have to build the side plate out a little. It will depend on things such as the cut depth of the sight window and your release. might even want to add a weighted insert to them to keep front weight up without having to use the heaviest of points.
If you are willing to cut a little shorter if necessary, I think that they will be a perfect choice...Only way to know is shoot to tune.
Thanks, bigjim
I must have a crappy release as I find the 55/75s cut to 28 1/2 inches tipped with regular inserts and 205 grains simmons and 3 five inch feathers fly great from my 55-60 pound bows.
I would say that you are probably right where you need to be Davet1963. 55-60 lbs on 5575. Of course the bow has a lot to do with it.
BigJim
Ok, the winner of the first week drawing at BigJims was Faye Hogan. She had called in to purchase some limbs for her son's samick sage and a bow for her daughter...I hooked her up with a samick fox. She needed arrows and supplies too.
She was very happy with her first time purchasing from us and after the news of her good fortune, maybe she'll call back when she needs more archery stuff.
Now on to next weeks winner....do you have your order in yet?
thanks ya'll, BigJim
Jim thanks for posting,, I can cut shorter my draw is 27" then ad a 1" for BH clearance and I guess I could take an inch off as a reference I have been using heritage 150's from another bow which are 29" and have 100gr inserts and then 125's screw-ins and they seem to fly pretty good so not sure where the GT spines fall with the Heritage spines (old heritage)
I want to get separate arrows set up for this longbow though and really need to get on these GT's this time.

Dont cut you arrows too fast, try the long alu insert (50gr) they make the arrow stiffer,at least for me.
Ok, many of you may already know that we had a bunch of Bear t-shirts for a great price. These are the shirts they have had up for the last few years. Well, they closed them out this year and I bought everything they had left...over 1000 t-shirts. Up until yesterday though, I had only received the xxl and xxxl for whatever reason. Well, yesterday, a truck showed up with two whole pallets of T-shirts in the rest of the sizes...yes some designs are limited in quantity, but if we have one in your size, they are priced to move...half of normal retail. Don't forget, free shipping until Dec 24 on orders of $50 or more...and a chance to win a made to your specs custom bow and other prizes. My mother will be making the custom bow...just kidding but I bet she could with just a little guidance :)
BigJim
By the way, the old heritage 150's were a little stiffer than the 3555 gt's.
thanks, bigjim
Well, it took about a month to find enough time to list them, but we have just added about 8 or so new in-stock ready to ship BigJim bows...ThunderChild, Buffalo, and Desert Bighorn. In addition, there is about 10 new to me used bows added.
Don't forget, free shipping until Dec 24!
thanks, bigjim
It is still possible to get your stuff in time for Christmas, but I believe you would have to request expedited shipping.
Free priority shipping will still apply on all in stock orders of $50 or more until Dec 24.
thanks, bigjim
