Title: Source for Furs to Cut String Silencers
Post by: Caleb the bow breaker on December 09, 2014, 11:36:00 AM
Gang,

Does anyone have a great source for furs that are suitable for making string silencers.  So things like beaver, otter, muskrat pelts that arent in great shape.  I looked on Moscow hide and fur and they have anything a fella could want but it all seems a little pricey to me or maybe I dont know what furs are worth.

taxidermy.net   You can often find scraps from mounts by the pound.

I buy beaver pelts at our local sportsman shows  ($40) for a pelt or musk rat (smaller) for less

Thrift shop or garage sale mink coats.  My Dad got one for me at an auction for near to nothing and I have made dozens of silencers from it.
