Title: arrow recommendation
Post by: SC Bowhunter on October 01, 2007, 09:27:00 AM
Just need a good starting point. I made some POC arrows for my recurve but they are too heavy for my longbow. It is a bear montana, 50#, draw length 28 1/2", shooting 125 grn heads. Would 50-55# be a good start?

I don't know how heavy your Cedars are, but you could try adding weight to the front end, which will break the spine down. This may allow you to use the arrows that you already have.

I agree, try heavier heads...

Thanks guys, problem is I would like to keep the ones I have set up for the recurve as I switch back and forth.

I would go with 55-60#, I have a45# LB that loves woodies about 7-10 # higher than the draw #. Im sure more seasoned arrowsmiths will chime in though...

I second what ishiwannabe said. I have two #50 longboiws and they both like 55-60, 125 grain tips, 29" length fletched wiht 4-4" feathers.

Thanks guys, appreciate the info. I'll try the 55-60's.
