What are you shooting either wood-carbon-aluminum arrows.
Go ahead and post why you ae shooting what you are if you want. I think it's going to be close between wood and carbon. how bout you?
I shoot carbon. Durability is the biggest reason. Second would be the ability to change point weight.
All I shoot are wood with the exception of bow fishing then it is a solid fiberglass shaft.
I prefer hardwood shafts; Ash, Hickory, Maple, etc. I have a few sets of arrows in Douglas Fir and Spruce and just a few assorted arrows in Cedar. I also have a few that are built out of Dogwood shoots that have stone points on them. The hardwood shafts are nice and heavy and more durable than anything else I have ever shot. Never had much issue in keeping them straight, just a little bit of tweaking every now and then.
I shoot wood and aluminum. My current hunting bow uses woodies. I shoot wood cuz I just like them. I shoot aluminum because they are cheaper than carbons and I never have to worry about one blowing up into a million little fragments.
I'm a carbon guy
I shoot aluminum on my recurves because my 2219's are almost indestructable. They seldom bend but if they do the arrow straightener will fix it quickly. Wood for longbow just because, lol. Anything else in a longbow just wouldn't seem right.
Wood. Only wood. For the same reason I shoot trad bows I guess.
Ever since I shot a D shaped longbow Silence has been my personal primary requirement for a bow.
I switched to wood shafts because they're quiet. Not just on the shot but also dragging through the woods. I like carbons for their versatility but wood shafts with deltas on the end that I can sharpen with a file at the end of the day by the fire satisfies me something deep.
I shoot them all but mostly carbon
Carbon. But I want to try wood one day.
Carbon
Carbon mostly, but still shoot wood and bamboo.
I am dq'd once again. Vintage Micro Flite fiberglass shafts with new fletching. Almost as quiet as wood, more durable than aluminum, more mass than carbon, and more funky than all three of the choices offered.
Wood with the exception of fiberglass for bow fishing.
Started with wood, shooting carbon at the moment.
Carbon currently, mainly because that is what I thought would be most durable as I started to learn shooting traditional 2 years ago. Now that I have developed decent form and not missing targets as much I think some woodies may be in my future this winter.
Carbon for durability and wood for nostalgia............but I really love "good" wood.
Carbon only because they take less time which has been at a premium for a few years.
May have some time freed up now and have a doz surewoods from Tim At Braveheart I gotta make up.
Also a pile of real turkey feathers from some other buds, Steve Grice being one of them!!
Will be some mojoed arrows! (is that a word??)
Beman Centershot carbon arrows. I shoot them for durability, slim design & they are straight. I feel as if they also recover quickly out of the bow at shorter distances and provide better penetration on animals.
Ron
Back and forth between wood & carbon, but I've been shooting mostly wood this year.
I've been shooting carbon since 1999. I would like to give woods a whirl in the future but for now I'm still trying to master the whole trad thing so I'm holding onto the ease and simplicity of my carbons for now.
Mainly aluminum because they are cheap and super easy to tune and work with. I love wood too and will make and shoot/hunt with it in the future, but to me they end up being more expensive to cull through enough to wind up with a quality batch of arrows. Haven't gave carbon a fair chance, needing an arrow saw to tune is a turn off to me. But won't rule them out in the future. They present the opportunity to use some broadheads that I would liketo use but would make total arrow weight heavier than I want with aluminum.
Carbon. They are cheap because I rarely break one and they don't bend, and they shoot very well for me.
Carbons for tunability and strength
Have both, prefer wood and use it far more than carbon. My opinion, carbon is more consistent, but I think wood is quieter and I just feel it's what I should use with my Hills and other longbows. I also make my own woodies and therefore am not concerned with losing them when stumping or small game hunting, lol! I do have a tendency to use carbon more often with Recurves, not really sure why.
I should add, I have a few boxes of aluminum, but they don't get much use.
I shoot carbons, these days easton fmj's exclusively. Looking into trying some arrow dynamics in the future.
Jake
I listed aluminum, but they are a mix (Easton FMJ's), so change the vote if necessary.

Wood!
Wood!
Wood but 2 x. On the microflites. Wish I can find somebody hoarding them.
Carbon for the consistency and the durability.
I shoot aluminum....no reason to not shoot the other two. I just always shot the aluminums...no need to change.
Carbons mostly
Your poll does not even come close for me...I shoot all carbon arrows, carbon wrapped in aluminum, aluminum and wood...when I get my FITA style hunting bow set up I will be shooting aluminum wrapped in carbon arrows...we live in a time with many great choices when it comes to arrows and it just seems foolish to me to limit oneself...they all have their place
DDave
I like wood, especially out of my Hill bows. Within my effective hunting range, out to about 20 yards, it is as accurate as carbon and looks a lot better.
I am surprised at the results of the poll . I would have thought that wood would have been much higher .
wood :archer:
The only thing I wrapped d Dave is venison and bacon lol wood is good.
Graps I'm surprised as well. I agree with your post. I shoot aluminum myself. But thought it would be a lot closer tween wood vs. carbon. rat'
Dan my shooting buddy Mark is one of those hoarders of Micro-flights. He's got 300 or more. Loves those things. rat'
I shoot all three! Right now I am hunting with wood so that is what I selected.
I shoot them all. I am flingin' river cane shafts right now.
Carbon all the way for me!
The only exception would be if I was to shoot a selfbow.

Woodies for me. Played with Carbon but never took them to the Field. Don't see the need to change.
Carbons for me mostly for consistency, but I still love stumping with my cedars.
Carbons for me.
