Title: Bafin boots
Post by: larry f on December 04, 2014, 07:35:00 PM
Anyone ever use this type of boot for sitting in real cold temps like around  zero. Looks like they have a few different models and may be the real deal for warmth. Not sure how they would be for walking to and from the stand and climbing.

The ones I have are great for warmth. Feel a little club footed in them. Bought them a little larger  as I always do with boots. When walking my foot makes a squeaking sound from slipping up and down inside the liner. I don't feel you would go wrong as far as comfort on the stand.

There is no better boot made for extreme cold than Baffin's Ice Bears...they are heavy but you get used to them...I work in them all year round when I need safety boots...sure my feet get hot in summer weather but it is bearable...if your feet get cold when it is minus 40 just wiggle your toes a little...they may just look like a kind of fancied up rubber boot...trust me they are far more than that

I have a pair they are only for ultra freezing temps and stand hunting usually in deep snow because walking in them feels like my feet are inside a box of pillows with no support at all,,,,, but man are they so warm and rated at 100 below zero which I didn't belive till I worn them and they where too warm in low 30's I wear a thin pair of liner socks and thats it.

I also have a pair of baffin basic snow boots that are pretty nice but not any better or any worse than kamiks or any other boot with the removable wool liners.

Dave do you know if they still make the ice bears as I did not see it on there web site. Maybe they changed the name on that model.

There are two different Ice Bears...the ones I have are in the Industrial section and are a full out safety boot which meet the Canadian Standards Association requirements...they also make a plain version that would be fine for your usage and likely a bit lighter...Baffin makes so many different boots it can be tough to find a particular one...we use that style of boot here in the Alberta oilfields and I am sure they are one of Baffin's best sellers...you could walk into any industrial/work clothing supplier here and find a number of different boots that are very similar...I saw another similar boot last week that is made in Italy by a company called Cofra...the fellow who was wearing them raved about them
