I have one of the mackinaw pullovers,I like the option of being able use or not use the hood depending on the weather. I really like the evening stand brown, don't think you could a better pattern for fall and winter hunting. Good products especially for someone like me on a limited budget! Johnny

From a silhouette breakup standpoint I feel both the Evening Stand colors, Timberghost, and Morning Mist make the most sense.  Solid dark colors don't make much sense to me nor do small patterns.  Small patterns blend together from far away.

I hunt a lot of Hemlock swamp area with a little hardwoods mixed in (pretty dark). My favorite for that is Little Delta Plaid. The Evening Stand colors look great in the more open hardwoods IMO.

I like both those patterns too. Timberghost blends awesome in a stand especially if your up a white oak. I like the evening stand brown everywhere I wear it all the time.

I like Evening Stand Green or Brown... I have the Mackinaw Pullover in ESG, plus an ESB vest without hood. I can use independently or together. If all on , I go long sleeve pullover, then vest, then add Mackinaw cape w/hood.... Sweet options. If its windy/real cold I have the Fleece High collar wind blocker under all that!

Well, I couldn't decide, so I ordered an Evening Stand Brown pullover AND a grey anorak on the tradgang appreciation day.
I can't wait.

As far as my opinions on the patterns, obviously I like the ESB the best, although, I wish they had a version of ESB that had only brown stripes and no green. But I haven't seen it in person yet, so maybe I'll really like the shade of green.

But, I've always been a big fan of light/medium browns in general, even in dense green woods, just from my experience playing paintball and observing deer. Funny how they can vanish when they stand still with that brown coat of theirs. Coupled with the fact that I was told the same thing by my friends when playing paintball. I had a light brown plaid flannel shirt that I would dissapear in when I stopped moving. They would look for my legs to figure out where I was(wearing surplus woodland camo, or jeans)

I was in the same boat recently.  So I ordered two vests (one with hood and one without) a pullover with no hood, and a gray anorak.  My package shipped yesterday, so I don't know which I like best yet. Patterns include ESG, Timber Ghost, and Silent Stalker.  I hope to have all the conditions covered with this system!

I like the Timber Ghost Pattern and just bought an extra heavyweight pullover to go along with my gray heavyweight pullover and my medium Timber ghost Zipper Jacket. I love Asbell Wool!!!!!

Evening stand brown is fantastic!  I wear it 90% of the time.  They are all great though.

I tend to like the Evening stand patterns ( I have brown and green articles, hard to tell the difference).  They work very well for me.

I also ordered my pull over during the summer and customized it to be 10" longer than normal.  After wearing it, I had my wife slit the sides up for those 10" and hem (?) the cuts so they wouldn't unravel.

This makes it easier to move around in and to put on.   I like the way it looks, and I like the way I feel while wearing it. I wear this all the time during bow season (once it gets cool) and love it.  The journey is often better than the destination.

Get one of each over time.

From your question, it seems as if you are asking about which style to purchase, not which color - or am I getting that wrong?  As to which is best, I only own three styles so perhaps I'm unqualified to say but of the three I own - Mackinaw, long hunter with hood and hooded pullover, I like the hooded pullover the best.

It's easy on / easy off. It looks good with or without a belt. It is almost as warm as the other two (the other two do give you slightly more material on your neck / shoulders).

After that, I think I like the longhunter next.  Wearing it as designed though - with the hood/cowl out - doesn't work for me for bowhunting.  The material gets in my way and makes shooting difficult.  That's easily fixed though - just put the hood on first and the shirt over the hood - no problem.

The Mackinaw is fine once it's on, but IMO is a pain in the butt to put on or take off.  If you take the hood / cape bit off separately from the shirt, it's fine but if you don't, it's just ungainly.

Having said that, I like all three (I've been wearing the Mack all this past week), it's just that I like the hooded pullover the best.

Pay more attention to the weight of the material than to the color.  If I'm buying wool, it's because I want to stay warm.  Blanket weight in a so-so color is way more useful to me than any lighter weight in the "perfect" color.

I prefer the zip ups (I added zippers to my 2 pullovers) because I can put it on over my safety harness without removing the harness.  Zippers make for very easy on/off.  I like to mix and match patterns when hunting, so I wear the Mackinaw with different jackets.  I'm with Jim on weight, mine are all extra hvy wt or blanket wt.
